Sweden is still holding high the Sleaze rock flag in Europe and most of this releases are of a pretty high standard. The third album from the Swedish quartet BABYLON BOMBS, entitled “Babylon’s Burning”, makes no exception of this rule. With their choice of using Chris Laney as producer they can’t fail, cause he’s the top producer for this kind of music (just check out CRASHDIET, STEEVI JAIMZ or his own solo album “Pure” for reference) and he gives the album an extra push by adding a crisp and powerful sound and nailing down some extra ordinaire hooklines. To sum it up : “Babylon’s Burning” ist the finest BB album up to date and worth buying for fan of the genre.

Doin' The Nasty
Swedish sleaze rock upstarts Babylon Bombs might be as much about slamming back other people’s cheap Scandinavian lager at a party they weren’t even invited to as they are about just about anything else, but give this bunch a chance and you truly won’t find yourself giving a solitary shit.
With almost every single song being near-impossible to forget after a few listens this is infectious and bulky party rock ‘n’ roll at it’s very finest. “Jaded Heart”, “Louder”, “Hometown Hero” and “Drop the Bomb” might not last all that long in practice, but just like the first drunken sexual fumble you had at little Sammy’s birthday party, your granddad’s allotment or the ball pit at a south coast McDonalds, it’ll stay in your head for a whole lot longer. And though at no point do the Babylon Bombs even attempt to reinvent the wheel, the fact that they’ve done such a good job of keeping it turning will doubtlessly please Motley Crue and Skidrow fans no end.
Almost bursting at the seams with mouth-drooling goodness, “Doin’ You Nasty” is the finest set of lungs, on the hottest girl at the dirtiest party you’ve ever been to.

The legendary AOR band Bad Habit formed in Lund, Sweden in 1986 by Hal Marabel and now ex-keyboard player Doc Pat Shannon. „Revolution“ is the third album of the Swedish band BAD HABIT. Originally released in 1995 via Megarock, the record turned into a collector's item over the years. In 2003 the album already got re-released under the title „Revolution r.e.d.u.x.“, but many fans are still in search for a copy. With the 2009 re-release they finally get another chance to fill the gap in their collection. The re-release is limited to 500 copies and features two bonus tracks: an alternative version of BAD HABIT's first single „Need Somebody“ and a cover version of the BALANCE classic „In For The Count“. Both songs were recorded in 1989 and match well with the sound and style of the original tracks. „Revolution“ is definitely BAD HABIT's heaviest album to date and comparable with TREAT, ALIEN and STAGE DOLLS of that time. THE HARD rock minefield is littered with the bodies of fallen comrades; brave souls who played hard and died young, all in the name of liberty and the power of rock. 25 years on, a handful of names have now become the stuff of legend. Balance is one of them…
Formed in the early ’80s as a veritable mini-super group, the membership draws from such diverse musical backgrounds as the Blues Magoos, Wiggy Bits, Speedway Boulevard and Brand X. Guitarist Bob Kulick in particular had developed a seasoned resume that included work with Meat Loaf, Paul Stanley, Kiss and more, proving himself a safe pair of hands, either holed up in the studio (Lou Reed) or out there on the boards (Alice Cooper).
Securing a deal with the CBS Records-backed Portrait label, this East Coast outfit scored successfully at AOR radio with ‘Breaking Away’ (from their self-titled debut album), but by the time ‘In For The Count’ was recorded they had redefined their musical ambition, diving deeper into the world of hard rock with spectacular results. Not only are the vocals – courtesy of Peppy Castro – wonderfully expressive, but they’re matched blow for blow by the guitar work of Kulick, both men giving of their best to take the music of Balance into an area not traditionally touched on by the AOR names of the day…

Here we have a very extraordinary and quite unusual band, because in the music history there is not a single band which had 17 male lead singers. BANG CAMERO does have 17 male lead singers, besides a drummer, bassist and 3 guitarists. So, they sound massive and their same titled debut CD does indeed have it’s charm and while listening to the CD it sounds like a mix between classic 80s Hardrock riffs a la JOSHUA/ STRYPER and DEF LEPPARD harmony vocals (the 17 singers all sing together each verse and chorus, which makes the whole affair extremely catchy). With all those harmony vocals it sounds quite melodic and like said before, very DEF LEPPARDish. Los Angeles 1990, David Reece and drummer Rusty Miller were ready to form a heavy but melodic Rock n Roll band named 'BANGALORE CHOIR' A place to look for great guitar players was the GIT in Hollywood so John Kirk and Danny Greenberg were found. Sharing the same musical vision the writing began. First songs were 'All or Nothin' and 'Slippin Away', both on the 'On Target' release. While rehearsing, John mentioned the guitarist Curt Mitchell who had worked with a previous group out of Reno, NV called 'Razormaid' so another great guitarist was found! Rusty Miller and the group parted ways, new drummer Darek Thomas Cava (ex Brunette) replaced him. After a couple shows they had offers from almost every label in town and settled with Giant Records and recorded 'On Target' released 1991/1992.
So now to the present, David Reece was asked to sing on Swedish rockers Gypsy Rose new record "Another World" in 2007 and while there they performed at the "Sweden Rock Festival". While speaking to his fans he was asked repeatedly about when there would be a new Bangalore Choir record? With the fantastic support from fans worldwide David reached out to guitarist Curt Mitchell and bassist Danny Greenberg asking if they would like to make a new record, both of them eagerly accepted the challenge. Also on this new record are guitarist Andy Susemihl of U.D.O. fame handeling songwriting and guitars as well as doing a masterful job on production and Hans in't Zandt on drums.
David Reece comments: "We knew if we were to make a new record that in order for it to be viable we had to keep some of the old formula that worked so well in the past which we have done! The new record by Bangalore Choir is called "Cadence" -- continuing with blistering guitars pounding rhythms and big hooky choruses."
Bangalore Choir will go on tour in Europe in early October 2010 playing such shows as the H.E.A.T. Festival as well as the Firefest in England we also plan to tour the Asian market as well as some U.S. dates.

On Target
When David Reece got fired from ACCEPT, he quickly founded a new band. Unfortunately the US music market was already infected by the Grunge virus when BANGALORE CHOIR’s debut, “On Target”, hit the stores in 1991/1992. Even though BANGALORE CHOIR disbanded shortly after, their one and only album became a classic among Melodic Rock fans. The reissue features a refreshed sound by Martin Kronlund (DOGFACE, GYPSY ROSE a. o.) since the original production by Max Norman (MEGADETH) and James ‘Jimbo’ Barton (QUEENSRYCHE) didn’t ever satisfy frontman David Reece. It goes without saying that the ten songs sound better than ever now…
“Angel In Black”: The opener was penned by Steve Plunkett (AUTOGRAPH) and is definitely the most renown song of the album. David Reece’s awesome vocals and the highly explosive chorus still rock like hell!
“Loaded Gun”: A highly melodic and very airplay oriented mid-tempo track that was written by Ricky Phillips (BAD ENGLISH). The chorus is pure ear candy!
“If The Good Die Young (We’ll Live Forever)”: A great half-ballad with a great chorus, smooth keyboards and excellent vocals by David Reece. There is no other singer around who could sing this chorus and I would believe.
“Doin’ The Dance”: Even though this song was written by Jon Bon Jovi and Aldo Nova it’s the album’s only little letdown. The Funk elements just didn’t suite the band and their sound.
“Hold On To You”: A beautiful but not cheesy sounding ballad that lives on some emotional keyboards as well as on crunchy guitars.
“All Or Nothin’”: The arrangement of this song is very similar to the opener “Angel In Black” as emotional verses erupt into another highly explosive chorus. David Reece sings on the top of his lungs and the guitars roar in best ACCEPT-style.
“Slippin’ Away”: A classic US-Melodic Rock song with a great balance between heaviness and melodiness. Again, a very catchy tune!
“She Can’t Stop”: During the verses it’s David Reece’s emotional vocals and a punchy bass which carry the song, but as soon as the chorus kicksin, it’s hell breaking loose! David Reece screams like the devil and the guitars run deep.
“Freight Train Rollin’”: A heavy rocker in the vein of BRITNY FOX and definitely the most unpolished song of the record. David Reece’s rough vocals come to full shine on this one.
“Just One Night”: No ballad, but a straight Melodic Rock song which reminds me a bit of heavier SURVIVOR. David Reece’s vicious vocals add a certain something to the song.
If “On Target” is still missing in your collection, then make sure you finally get it now. If you already have the original, then you should consider buying the reissue as well. The new artwork, a bonus video clip and the better sound quality are good reasons to purchase it again. Let’s hope that the band’s comeback album is on par with “On Target”. It’s hard to beat!

Gary Barden is to the voice of British hard rock. The first time Barden appeared in the scene was as part of the newly formed MSG (Michael Schenker Group) founded by the former Scorpions guitarist of the same name. This is more like the quality we should expect from Gary, not forgetting the input from Michael Voss, who has a pedigree that needs no introduction at all.
All these songs are absolute killers, take the cleverness of The Last Samurai and the oriental slant to Dragon's Fire and you will just be amazed at the sheer power of this release. This is truly a great British rock album and is not hard to see why Gary has been involved with so many of the the UK's major talent. A very powerful rock album.

Those fans who prefer urban riff rock from down under but also rock with the quality seal “Made in Switzerland” as well as the Teutonic interpretation of urban metal have to love this record, indeed! That’s because this guys from Stuttgart move in the middle of in between AC/DC at Bon Scott’s era, early 80’ies Krokus (“Hardware”, “One Vice At A Time”, “Headhunter”) and Accept/U.D.O. With ‘Shooter’ the boys got the reincarnation of ‘Shoot To Thrill’ in their repertoire – with ‘Big Ball Crew’ a kinda new ‘Given The Dog A Bone’. Different from AC/DC, Big Ball also added some bluesy slide guitars into their sound (‘Big Ball Crew’, ‘Wrecking Ball’) – and even because of the numerous Accept-able heavy metal grooves (‘Porno Lisa’, ‘Killdozer’, title track) the whole disc sounds like Accept featuring Bon Scott. David Henzerling slashing boundaries on guitar is a volatile essential to the aura brought forth by BIG COCK. The band is making an erect stand with “Motherload” and every song has the drive to make an impact on their live show.
Robert Mason vocals are simply put amazing mixing a style of Bon Scott AC/DC and Rick Sanford LEGS DIAMOND. The is one CD that makes hyperactive kids look tame from the opening song “Get A Load Of Me” which is a pummeling tune with kick ass guitar licks to the downright nasty pipes of Mason.
Loved “Breaking My Balls” the vocals are a little milder but John Covington drums echo like you’re in the studio, like the old days of VAN HALEN. But the first song that will break barriers will be “Road To Ruin” that has all the right elements to be a classic, smooth vocals, catchy lyrics, kick’n’ chorus and the lead and background harmonies smoke.
When the time is right “Don’t Ask Me to be Faithful” brings a subtle mellow ballad and Mason shines, his vocals are outstanding and range unbelievable. Don’t lay back too long “Live to Rock” is crunching with AC/DC riffs and power which could make this the next hit off the CD. You also gotta check out “M.I.L.F” and the scream Mason lets loose ala Roger Daltrey.
If this is any indication of the New Year BIG COCK is going to spew over and ERRUPT. This is a great power driven CD that is full of energy that has to be added to your collection.

To me, Big Guns are U.K.'s answer to the legendary hard rockers Danger Danger. Big Guns hit the scene in the early 90's when they were signed to Japanese hard rock label giant "Zero Records". In 1994 the band made their break through with their critically acclaimed debut release entitled "On Dangerous Ground". An ultra rare collectable to this day, what many people believe was that the only thing that kept "On Dangerous Ground" from being a classic AOR release was the less than par production. Knowing the fact about the poor production, Big Guns were adamant to right the wrong when recording their second album and proving to themselves that they were an AOR powerhouse. Putting it all on the line to record the classic AOR album, Big Guns decided to self fund their next album on their very own. Coughing up $US30,000 for the recording process which was a hell of a lot of money back in those days. Unfortunately $US30,000 at the recording quality that the band was after was only enough for six tracks of AOR magic. Due to the music climate at the time, no record label was willing to give Big Guns a chance at rock stardom. Those six previously unreleased tracks will be the content of Suncity Records's Big Guns - Stick'em Up! album which is released in 2007.

BILOXI lost their friend/singer, Clyde Holly, who passed away in his sleep in September 2006. The remaining members of BILOXI will be finishing BILOXI III in honor of Clyde Holly. The recording of the final vocal tracks will take place in January and will involve the coaching talents of Dean Fasano of Message, Prophet, Richie Sambora, Jon BonJovi, Trixter, Etc. After the losses sustained by Huricane Katrina, the band gathered up their lives and were in the process of finishing this release for the fans when the tragedy of Clyde's loss occurred. We were blessed to still have Clyde's signature sound all over this release and several tracks with his voice throughout.
Our talented drummer Rob has been mixing the release. I must say that he is working hard to produce the best sounding release that would have made Clyde proud. I know that I am.

In the late 1980s there were a lot of new bands from the East Coast of the US playing a sort of typical Mainstream melodihardrock/partyrocksound. Some of them enjoyed a lot of success (SKID ROW, WARRANT, WINGER, TESLA, DAMN YANKEES, FIREHOUSE, WHITE LION, SLAUGHTER etc.), but thousands of good quality bands in this genre never made it that big and BITTERSWEET was definitely one of those bands that never reached the big fame of similar bands I just mentioned. Nevertheless, there is now a CD available with 20 of their songs, as recorded between 1988 and 1992, now completely remastered and released on CD with the title ‘Loaded up’. Between the 20 songs we can find typical American 80s Melodic Hardrock like “Like the wind”, “Living in America”, “Spread your wings”, “Wild ones”, “Paradise” (awesome uptempo AOR/Melodic Rocker, very fun pure 80s song!) and “Falling for your love”, but also beautiful WARRANTish ballads like the fantastic “Love fade away” (could have been huge in the US back in 89!) and “Take a stand”. The best song however is the superb semi midtempo AOR ballad “Down to the wire” which is in the same class as a SHY, and has a really amazing chorus, which all AOR fans will love instantly! Concluded, this is a must-have 2-CD set if you enjoy that late 80s Arena Melodic Mainstream US Hardrock sound of bands like FIREHOUSE, WARRANT, DAMN YANKEES, NELSON, SLAUGHTER, DANGER DANGER, POISON etc. etc.

Review:
Black Label Society already has a previous hits collection entitled The Kings Of Damnation that was released a few years back. For whatever reason their previous label, Eagle Rock Entertainment, have seen fit to issue another hits collection from America's favorite beer-bellied, scruffy, shredder Zakk Wylde.
It's not an entirely bad idea as Skullage doubles not only as a 16 track audio collection that covers everything from Pride & Glory through Shot To Hell but in addition it features a DVD of music videos, live clips and a mini-interview segment where Wylde guides you through each track featured within while walking around his 'compound'.
Everyone has a favorite Black Label Society album and chances are there will be something that gets missed, I'm quite partial to Pride & Glory, Book Of Shadows and 1919 Eternal myself. The killer cuts include here are "Machine Gun Man," "Stillborn," "Suicide Messiah" and "Fire It Up."
I would highly recommend Skullage as a starter package to those that are considering enlisting in their regional chapter of the Black Label Society. This collection is available as a single audio CD, single DVD or CD/DVD combination - take your pick!

Review:
Blackrain is a French rock band that plays a mix of rock, glam, sleaze and metal. The band was formed in 2002 by Swan (vocals and guitar) and Max 2 (guitar). They started out by playing cover tunes of their idols like Motley Crue and W.A.S.P. In the beginning the band had different people on bass and drums, but one of them, Iann Lewis (drums), chose to stay in the band. Later they found Heinrich (bass), who played a little guitar, but now plays bass for the band.
Innocent Rosie is a promo EP with three songs, all of which will be found on the band's upcoming CD License To Thrill, which comes later in the year. The songs on this album are recorded and produced by Blackrain and Johnny Rocket and mixed/mastered by Zan Clan's Chris Laney (who also mixed the upcoming album).
The first song on the CD is "Innocent Rosie", a cool sleazy song in the same style as CrashDiet and other recent Swedish bands. The next song is "Rock Your City", which reminds me of bands such as Wig Wam and H.E.A.T. and it could easily be Blackrain's rock anthem. The last song is called "Nasty" and this is the most rocking song on the Innocent Rosie EP. Again, I'll say that this song has the same style as the Swedish bands in the same genre of music. All three songs are really catchy and make you rock along, stomping your foot and tapping on your knee, when you hear them.
Swan's voice fits this genre of rock music very well and Max 2, Heinrich and Iann Lewis all play their instruments very well. I'm really looking forward to hear the upcoming full length CD License To Thrill.

Mob Rules ('81) features classics including the title track, “Falling Off The Edge Of The World,” “Turn Up The Night” and “The Sign.”
Live Evil, the group's 1982 live double album, is a testament to the stage might of Sabbath's Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, “Geezer” Butler and Vinny Appice (who replaced original drummer Bill Ward in '81) line-up on fourteen blistering tracks.
Dehumanizer ('92), regarded by many metal fans as a “lost classic,” came out after a decade long hiatus and rocks with tracks including “I,” “Computer God” and TV Crimes.”

BLACKWOOD CREEK is a Kip Winger side project put together with his brother Nate on drums and childhood friend Peter Fletcher on guitar. It all actually started in 1969 in Littleton, Colorado when a 7 year old Kip Winger walked up to Peter Fletcher and said: "Hey, you got big lips, you wanna fight?". Fletcher then stood up and towered over Winger at which point they started a band instead! They reconvened in the basement of the Wingers house where Kip’s older brother Nate was pounding on the drums. Blackwood Creek was born.
They went on to play every Jr. High and High school and eventually night clubs in their path, performing songs by their favourite bands like Grand Funk, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and their original songs which they were particularly passionate about, to the point of getting fired from jobs for not playing enough popular material.
In 1980 they went their separate ways. Nate and Fletcher went to Los Angeles , Kip went to New York , where he landed a gig with Alice Cooper and then went on to form Winger. Nate recorded with many bands in L.A. including Ratt, Kix, Europe . Fletcher formed the Pigmy Love Circus, including drummer Danny Carey from Tool.
Blackwood Creek reformed in 2007 to record 11 new songs. It's obvious that the chemistry is still rock solid. These 11 tracks embody 40 years of blood, sweat and tears of 3 musicians who started out together, went their separate ways and reform on common ground.

In 2005 one of the brightest new stars on the Melodic Rock scene appeared during the hot summer time. In July of that year Blanc Faces, headed by the brothers duo, Robbie and Brian La Blanc debuted with their self titled album showing the world that the time for big harmonies was not over. With a stunning production (with a mix courtesy of Dennis Ward of Pink Cream 69) and some truly brilliant songs, Blanc Faces managed to catch the attention of the entire Melodic Rock oriented press and loads of new fans. Following the huge responses, Blanc Faces appeared for the first time in Europe at the first edition of the United Forces of Rock Festival in Ludwigsburg, Germany where they literally took the crowd by storm. Little by little the two brothers (who by the way have an outstanding career in music including providing background vocals on music involving Toto lead singer Bobby Kimball and legendary singer Ronnie Spector) started putting together musical material for the second album which they completed in the summer of 2009. Not wanting to touch a team that gave superb results on the debut record, Blance Faces worked again with Kyle Woodring (Dennis DeYoung/Styx; Survivor; John Mellencamp) on drums, Jeff Batter (Cannata) on keyboards, and Butch Taylor and Michael Patzig on lead guitar. Just a few weeks after the completion of the record the sad news of Kyle Woodring passing reached everyone, so the entire album is dedicated to this amazing musician. Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69) delivered once again a superior quality in the mixing sessions so once again the end result is an astonishing album that restores the faith in Classic AOR / Melodic Rock music. If you are a fan of Journey, Foreigner and Survivor, you will love this recording!

Shortly after the release of "Book of the Dead" the band realized that with Michael's busy schedule it would be impossible to do all the live shows coming up. Urban Breed was asked to stand in and ended up doing all the shows for the tour, and eventually got back with the band as a permanent member!
The word of the band had by now started to spread big time and the new album got them on tour with Hammerfall on their "Nights of Glory" European tour and the Hammerfall Ocean Crusade in 2007, which gave them the opportunity to play for a bigger crowd. Joacim Cans, the singer of Hammerfall was deeply impressed with the band and stated in magazine interviews that if Hammerfall ever split up the band he wanted to sing in the most were BLOODBOUND! 2007 also led to playing bigger festivals such as the Sweden Rock Festival. At the end of 2007 the band started to work on their third studio album. While working on the third album the band played at several big festivals during the summer of 2008, one of the highlights in the career of the band was their gig at Masters of Rock in Czech republic in front of 20,000 crazy metal heads! At the end of 2008 the band signed a worldwide deal with Blistering Records. The recordings of the third album "Tabula Rasa" took place in several studios during November and December 2008. The album will be released in early 2009.

Whips and Roses
The early Seventies were the age of the great guitar heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Toni Iommi. It was also the era of Ritchie Blackmore and his extravagant stage show and unusual style, which helped to make Deep Purple one of the most important hard rock acts of their generation. When Blackmore left Deep Purple in 1975, the heir to his throne was Tommy Bolin, a young guitarist who had the world at his feet and a promising future at the tender age of 23. However, Bolin’s career was to last merely a brief seven years. When he died on December 4, 1976, he was only 25 years old. Similarly to Jimi Hendrix, Bolin also enjoys an excellent reputation beyond his death. Bolin’s solo albums, Teaser and Private Eyes, which arrived at the stores shortly before and after Purple’s Come Taste The Band are considered to be 70s rock classics.
SPV have compiled this new Bolin retrospective, entitled Whips And Roses 1 featuring previously unreleased tracks, which testify to the American’s amazing talent as a guitarist, vocalist and composer. All tracks on Whips And Roses are either alternative versions of familiar material or previously unreleased songs from incredible studio sessions, previously believed to have been lost. The title track of his solo debut, Teaser, Savannah Woman and Dreamer come in haunting versions, attesting to Bolin’s unbelievably light style. Flying Fingers, with almost 16 minutes playing time, proves Tommy’s amazing diversity as a guitar hero. “Tommy today would be better than Jimi Hendrix, if both were still alive,” claims producer Greg Hampton, who worked on Whips And Roses together with Bolin’s brother Johnnie. “The way he moves almost without transition from a Latin feeling to a funky style on Flying Fingers, the way he combines a powerful style with sensitivity is simply ingenious. Tommy was amazingly spontaneous, yet more proficient than any other guitarist of his age.” Cookoo and Just Don’t Fall Down are previously unreleased outtakes from unknown studio recordings, while Wild Dogs, originally also from Teaser, really lives up to its title.
Following a stunning show with Jeff Beck in Miami/Florida on December 3, 1976, Bolin lost consciousness at his hotel. He was already dead by the time the paramedics arrived the next morning. A drug overdose, together with alcohol, was diagnosed as the cause of death. But his short musical journey has left us with a taste of just how great this musical genius was, and how he would have changed the course of modern music had he lived. Thirty years later his fans are still shocked by his early passing. Whips And Roses keeps the memory alive and shows the genius of this very special musician. Expect Whips And Roses 2 to be released by the end of 2006.

If you look at European AOR and melodic rock today, the different styles are quite noticeable, with British, Swiss, Swedish, and German being the major sounds. The German melodic rock sound pretty much comes back to Bonfire (and later Fair Warning). “Don't Touch the Light” - With just 8 songs (9 if you count the instrumental introductory track) at 37 minutes, this 1986 release is a relatively brief introduction to the band. Downburst
Been more than two years since Liquid Monster (which was one), yet still no additional North American shows. Well, the Germans better get their “esel” overseas for Downburst, or there will be an outburst, big time! Although not as immediate as its predecessor, Downburst picks up where Brainstorm left off (‘Stained With Sin’, ‘Redemption In Your Eyes’ and ‘How Do You Feel’). All told, these ten tunes benefit from the symphonic diversification sweeping through the power metal movement, i.e. Primal Fear, Iced Earth, etc. The effect is most noticeable in ‘Surrounding Walls’ and throughout ‘End In Sorrow’, where the hushed tones of singer Andy B. Franck sound decidedly American radio-friendly. In the opposite direction, there’s the staccato modernism of ‘Fire Walk With Me’ and modulated vocals on ‘Frozen’. Heaviest track honours go to ‘Protect Me From Myself’, which also sports an extended guitar break. The ‘All Alone’ finale has Franck in spoken word/near whisper, with an infectious late ‘70s hard rock chorus riff.
