People who recently paid enormous prices for the album at an internet auction might kick themselves since the re-issue comes in a beautiful digi-pack and features two bonus tracks: the maxi-version of the legendary scene-hit „Fortune Teller“ and the brand new studio track „King Of Zanzibar“. Regarding the music on „Images Of Forever“ you can cut things short, because this album is close to perfection! The charismatic vocals by Jeff Cannata, the atmospheric walls of keyboards and the beautifully melancholic melodies turn every song into a real Pomp Rock pearl! No matter if you talk about the afore mentioned „Fortune Teller“, the balladesque „Break Away“, the fat produced „Middle Of The Night“ or the amazing „Long Distance“ – the friends of slightly progressive Pomp Rock a la early MARILLION, ASIA and John Wetton will love any song! However, CANNATA create a sound that only shows similarities with the mentioned acts, but that is totally original! The Finnish five piece delivered a helluva debut album entitled “The Portrait Of Carmen Gray” two years ago by mixing modern rock, power pop and classic melodic rock into superb cocktail. The only pity was that Sony/BMG didn’t released the album over Europe, cause this band has the potential to become the next THE RASMUS.
The follow up “Welcome To Grayland” is even stronger as the debut and it must be a tough challenge for Sony/BMG to choose the first single, cause there are at least 5-6 potentital top 10 hits on this cracker.

In my opinion, CASANOVA’s self-titled debut of the year 1990 is still the best Melodic Rock album that was ever recorded by a German band. Never before nor any later Michael Voss (MAD MAX, BONFIRE) wrote better songs than on this record. No matter if we talk about the heavy opener “Don’t Talk About Love”, the explosive rockers “Bang Bang” and “”Sticky Sweet” or the emotional ballads “Rome Burns” and “Heaven Can Wait” – every song is a killer! The re-release was remastered and features 7 bonus tracks (see German text for details). What a pity that the band never came close again to the outstanding class they had on this album and so their numerous comeback attempts failed. MARCO SPÄTH

Bob’s 6th solo album however brought changes again, as the songwriting was handled by guitar ace Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker, Primal Fear, Allen / Lande). He sent on the demo tapes on to producer Dennis Ward who cared about the recording of all tracks with Dirk Bruinenberg (Elegy) on drums and Uwe Reitenauer on additional guitars. Magnus Karlsson strangely plays only keyboards this time, allowing his lead guitarwork to shine only on “End of the World”. Bob flew over to Germany at the end of January 08 to record his vocal parts and “Immortal” took immediately shape as one of the strongest ever from the Magnum singer. The sound is again on the heavy spectrum of Bob’s abilities, but manages to incorporate the Epic atmospheres on Magnum and Bob Catley’s early solo albums. Cover art was specifically designed for the project by Rodney Matthews (Magnum, Asia, Allen/Lande).

This reaction from the press summed up the exact aim of these releases perfectly: "Gary has captured that special feel and vibe of "On A Storyteller's Night" perfectly and wrapped it up beautifully in renaissance/symphonic style instrumentation, with big grandiose almost epic film score like production schemes". Bob made his debut solo appearance at The GODS '98 in November, performing a show stopping set featuring tracks form "The Tower" as well as classic MAGNUM songs. Again, such was the response from critics and fans alike that a full UK tour was booked and Bob’s solo career has gone from strength to strength from then on. Not content with merely releasing solo albums, Bob has committed himself fully to the role and has performed 70 shows as a solo artist, in countries including the UK, Germany, Spain, Benelux and Italy. All this whilst continuing first as a member of HARD RAIN and more recently as the front man of the reformed MAGNUM line-up. After three albums together and so many other commitments on both sides it was decided that long time keyboard player, Paul Hodson, would write Bob’s fourth solo album. The style of Paul`s writing complemented the master’s voice and with an added edge of classic Dio-esque metal, "When Empires Burn" brought Bob’s music to a metal oriented audience as well as pleasing the existing fan base. As Bob himself has stated: "This is my Heavy Metal album. I`ve always wanted to do something like this". Another change has happened with this new album as Bob is now singing on songs especially written for him by his longtime collaborator Vince O`Regan and another two british songwriters Dave Thompson and Paul Uttley. Once again the music is harder edged compared to the MAGNUM sound and closer to late 70’s RAINBOW and DIO sound. Again the inclusion of Bob`s live backing band as the performers on the album gives the material more of a band feel. Vince O`Regan is also featured on all guitars along with Irvin Parratt on keyboards, Al Barrow on bass and Jamie Little on drums. Bob Catley is set to present the album live in the UK and Europe during the Spring 2006. Don’t miss him!

Kevin has a strong link to the music of Journey and the band members, at one stage he fronted the band for a one-off show in 1993 (Aynsley Dunbar, Steve Smith, Gregg Rolie, Neil Schon, Ross Valory, Jon Cain, and Kevin), paying tribute to manager/industry legend Herbie Herbert. His music has always fit the same musical mold, so while this album comes as a surprise to many, I think Kevin will pay the best possible tribute to these songs.

Charlemagne was formed sometime during 1987. Scott and Raymond had moved to Hollywood in September of 1986 when Scott was scheduled to begin the 1986-1987 Session at Musicians Institute’s GIT. It was during that time that Scott met Ken Kowalski who was attending PIT, and Lee Brian who was attending BIT. While it was common practice for students from all of the schools to play together during LPW (Live Playing Workshop), Scott, Ken, and Lee never actually played together during those times. Scott had observed Ken and Lee playing with other players at various times and after hearing the both of them, he approached them on different occasions to discuss the possibility of forming a band outside of school. Several rehearsals were scheduled to explore this possibility after which it became obvious to all this was to be a great fit indeed.
After a solid year of an average of 3 nights per week, the band was ready for primetime in the Los Angeles club scene. One interesting side note was the rehearsal space that the band used. In the middle of the industrial district of Los Angeles in a city called Vernon was a lock-out rehearsal facility named “Francisco’s Studios”. Francisco’s consisted of two buildings with a total of 117 rehearsal rooms all rented by the month. On any given night throughout the week, literally 90% of the rooms were filled with as many local rock acts rehearsing their shows. Since these rooms allowed 24-hour access, bands rehearsed at all hours of the week as well. It was not uncommon at all for 25 bands to even be rehearsing at 7:00am on a Sunday morning. Another interesting tidbit was the Purina Chicken Feed factory located about ¼ mile from Francisco’s. During the summer, the odor produced from that factory was EXTREMELY heavy. When Charlemagne joined BMI in 1990, the membership application required 5 possible names for membership.
While it was easy to come up with the first four possibilities, a fifth name eluded the band. In an act of frustration, the fifth name submitted was “Boiling Beaks Music” which was coined from the process used at the Purina factory to manufacture chicken feed. Sure enough when the application was accepted, BMI used “Boiling Beaks Music” as the name. That name is still registered with BMI today.
Charlemagne played at all the major clubs in Los Angeles and Orange County, including those on the Sunset Strip. While most bands were using the typical equipment setups, everyone in Charlemagne used Rack-Mounted Rigs, including Ken. A friend in another band noticed we were pretty much the only band in town doing this, and nicknamed us “The Rack Band”. The name stuck with a lot of our colleagues in other bands. Some of these bands even asked permission to play some of our songs in their shows. The band agreed. So on any given night in Hollywood, those in attendance for these other bands actually got to hear Charlemagne songs even though Charlemagne was elsewhere.
The late 80’s and Early 90’s were truly a historical time in the evolution of Rock and Roll. Great hair, cool clothes, and “Shred” guitar defined the thousands of bands that played the Hollywood circuit. 7 nights a week, Hollywood was filled with bands and fans that made no apologies for their culture. It was the pinnacle generation of musicianship, and a time when music was intended to be fun and make you feel good. The rest of the world followed the trend set by the Hollywood bands. All who were fortunate enough to be a part of it in Hollywood will attest to the electricity that fueled the Hollywood Hair Band era. It was a magical time when Rockstars were really Rockstars. The sad thing is that there was just not room enough for everyone, so a lot of great bands didn’t catch a ride on the “Record Deal” bus. Ask any member of any of the bands who were there about Hollywood in the 80’s and early 90’s, and most will agree it was the best of times when history was being made.

The latest discovery is the 1983 record of CHEATER. This band had an EP out in 1980 and recorded this album in 1983, but it never saw the light of day. this is a dream come true for the fan of classic early 80s AOR in the style of 707, TRILLION, MAYDAY, LE ROUX, PREVIEW, THRILLS, SPYS, BALANCE. etc. Without any doubts I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND this CD to the fan of classic hookladen AOR with dut-dut keys and superb choruses. The band featured an amazing lead singer called JEFF COSCO (incredible voice!!!) and basically this CD contains some amazing undiscovered AOR CLASSICS plus the songs from EP. With a name like Cherry Lips, it does not take a rocket scientist to ascertain that this band are full of good looking girls. Either that, or a bunch of Cherry pickers from down south with nothing better to do with their free time! This (excuse the pun) bunch of gals come at us all the way from Verona Italy. The only point of difference for the band is that lead singer Stefania Parks has British origins and speaks native English, which will obviously add appeal to the bands fortunes elsewhere around the globe.
The guitar work from Elisa really gives Cherry Lips ample playful energy, which the vampish Stefi does well to exploit. The heaviest track here is the tastefully titled Mean Hot And Nasty, and the girls do just that - musically speaking! The commercial fare of On My Own is appealing, as is the rough-edged Back For More, with its hint of AC/DC in the mix.

Hard rock icons Cinderella are back with a Live album featuring the all original line-up of Tom Keifer (vocals, guitar), Eric Brittingham (bass), Jeff LaBar (guitar) and Fred Coury (drums). Recorded during the VH1 sponsored the "Rock Never Stops" package tour, which Cinderella headlined, supported by Ratt, Quiet Riot and Firehouse, the show held in Uncasville, Connecticut on July 21, 2005 is now officially and integrally released as an appetizer to the ultimate live return of the band on the European soil, which is planned for the year 2010. Formed in Philadelphia in 1983 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham, they quickly added guitarist Jeff LaBar to the line-up. With Jody Cortez completing the band on drums, Cinderella started to write and perform original material in clubs and bars in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, until Jon Bon Jovi caught one of the performances and alerted his record company, Mercury, who immediately signed the band. Cinderella's debut album "Night Songs", was released in June 1986 and went on to sell over 3 million units, sporting such singles as "Shake Me", "Nobody's Fool" and "Somebody Save Me". Fred Coury replaced Cortez prior to the release of "Night Songs" and the band has remained unchanged since. Two years later Cinderella returned with their second album, "Long Cold Winter". The record was another huge success, selling in excess of 3 million copies with tracks like" Gypsy Road" and "Don't Know What You Got ('Til Its Gone)" becoming soon fan favourites. Their third album, "Heartbreak Station", was released in 1990 followed by "Still Climbing" in 1994. The later two albums featured songs more influenced by Keifer's love of the blues. Cinderella disbanded in 1995 but by 1998, there was interest by promoters for Cinderella to reunite in the original lineup for a tour. Cinderella were later signed to Sony's Portrait label by famed record executive John Kalodner, however the lack of success of the label's initial releases brought the cancellation of the deal as the label folded. Nevertheless, a faithful fan base supported the continued road work by the band, which reunited again in the summer of 2000 for a tour with Poison, followed by a second outing by the two groups in 2002 and regular live activity until 2006 which will be finally resumed during next year. Get ready for the return of Cinderella!

Matos will sing the only cover song featured on the album — IRON MAIDEN's "Hallowed Be Thy Name", which was chosen by Matos as his favorite track ever in MAIDEN's repertoire. Also scheduled to appear on the CD is KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai.
Longtime friends Matos and CLAIRVOYANTS will perform together on Octoebr 24 at Milan's Live Club and October 25 at Tempo Rock in Gualtieri (RE), Italy.
"Word To The Wise" is will be released at the end of December. It will contain nine original songs plus the MAIDEN cover. The CD's artwork was created by Nerve Design Studio (THRESHOLD, VISION DIVINE, ELDRITCH, EXTREMA).

Crimson Skies
Holy shit, what a great leap forward! CLOUDSCAPE's self-titled debut was really promising, but I never knew they had such a strong follow-up in the can. However, “Crimson Skies” has become an improvement in all departments: better songwriting, better production, better playing and singing. So CLOUDSCAPE succeeded a classy album that comes close to THRESHOLD's latest masterpiece “Subsurface”. Both bands play Prog Metal with strong melodic influences and both have a nice balance of heavy guitars and atmospheric keyboards and nice vocals. All in all the CLOUDSCAPE material is maybe a little more anthemic, but I guess that complies with the Melodic Metal fans' wishes. The most outstanding songs on “Crimson Skies” are the fast-paced and heavily rocking opener “Shapeshifter”, the straight “Take The Blame”, the complex and very melodic “The Last Breath”, the dark and aggressive “Demon Tears” and the MASTERPLAN influenced “Someone Else”. As you see, CLOUDSCAPE's “Crimson Skies” offers many great songs. If you have a weakness for THRESHOLD and CONCEPTION, then make sure you get your hands on this album.

Let’s get something straight from the beginning: I believe that it’s totally unfair for COMMUNIC to be characterized as Nevermore clones! They do have of course influences by Warrel Dane’s company - noone can deny that, not even COMMUNIC themselves- but, in my opinion, the listener who reads between the lines will find out that these Norwegians are more than that…
Having already released two records of high quality, COMMUNIC have proved their potentials. This new effort, entitled “Payment Of Existence” is capable of taking the band to the next level. Stellar musicianship, adventurous composing approach, lengthy but not tiring songs and a more personal sound are the elements that complete the puzzle of this cd. Having filtered their influences from groups as diverse as Memento Mori, old Testament, Spiral Architect, Conception, Psychotic Waltz and of course Nevermore the band has created a darker than ever before metal record full of heaviness-combined-with-melodies approach. An amalgam of sounds consisting of thrash, power and prog metal elements doomed to create deep emotions to anyone who gets in touch with it.
Throughout the record the band members are showing their technical abilities without crossing the boundaries that lead to excess and this is surely a sign of greatness. It’s the technique that serves the essence of every song and not the opposite. The similarity in Stensland’s voice with Warrel Dane’s vocal delivery can’t be denied but it should be considered as an advantage as the latter’s passionate performances can be reached here as well.
The end result is in my opinion COMMUNIC’s best record so far. Give them the chance…they do deserve it!

Lost and Gone
CONSTANCIA started out as the brainchild of former SCUDIERO/TOKEN keyboard player Mikael Rosengren. He had written a bunch of songs that were just screaming to be completed, recorded and released. He got in touch with guitarist Janne Stark, who has previously released albums with bands like OVERDRIVE, LOCOMOTIVE BREATH, BALLS, ZELLO etc. asking him to lay down some guitars on the demos. Janne loved the songs and got even more involved in the guitar arrangements, and the seed of CONSTANCIA was planted.
“I’ve always been a fan of the pompy side of melodic hard rock and bands like CITY BOY, STYX and TRILLION as well as the real heavy stuff. I instantly felt these songs could be the perfect marriage between the melodic rock, some progressive moments and an aggressive touch added to it, which is when I came to think of the style description: - Melogressive Metal”, says Janne.
Next up was to find a drummer, where Janne had previously worked with TrumPeter Svensson both in LOCOMOTIVE BREATH and MOUNTAIN OF POWER. Peter is also found in doom-folk rockers FAITH. Mikael then found JADED HEART bass-player Michael Mueller, whom he met when their respective bands shared label.
After having tried out several singers Janne came to think of ANDROMEDA singer David Fremberg, who had also appeared on Janne’s MOUNTAIN OF POWER album. One vocal trial track later he became the band’s lead vocalist. The vast geographical differences not meaning any limitations, the album now started growing together piece by piece. It all amalgamated into an end result that is a true band effort.
“It was really interesting to see it merge together and like a small weed slowly rise and break through the asphalt to finally blossom when all the pieces came together”, says Janne who was appointed recording project manager. The band first tried out different engineers to mix the album, such as Beau Hill, Pontus Norgren, Pontus Lindmark and Pelle Saether, all of them doing a great job, but it was finally Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed, Eclipse, Siebenbürgen) that was chosen to mix the album.
“He found the essence of what we were after, the marriage between the melodic side and the heaviness” according to Mikael. The resulting debut album “Lost And Gone” is a true revelation for all lovers of Hard Rock with strong keyboards and brilliant vocal melodies.

The Crowning
The CRASH THE SYSTEM - project came about as a collaboration between song-writer Sören Kronqvist and drummer/producer Daniel Flores in the fall of 2008. The duo has known each other for a couple of years and they respect each other's work. Sören and Daniel decided to make a project together with songs they enjoyed writing. Thanks to Daniel's extensive music background, good reputation, and connections in the music business he managed to bring in some of the top names in Sweden into the project.
Guest vocalists on the project are: Göran Edman (Ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum, Brazen Abbot, etc), Mats Levén (Ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, Infinite Mass, etc), Thomas Vikström (Ex-Talk Of The Town, Candlemass, etc) and Björn Jansson (Ex-Ride The Sky, Tears Of Anger, etc). Backing up these fine vocalists which are all appearing together on an album for the very first time, are Daniel Flores on drums, guitars, bass, keyboards, strings, and backing vocals (Mind's Eye, The Murder of My Sweet, etc), former Finnish 400 meter hurdle Champion and song-writer Sören Kronqvist on keyboards, rhythm guitars, and bass.
Sören Kronqvist has co-written songs for House Of Lords, Grammy-nominated Michael Bormann, Swedish rockers CCRock and 250kg kärlek. Additional guitars on the project by Johan Niemann (Mind's Eye, Murder My Sweet, etc), Daniel Palmqvist (The Murder of My Sweet), and Manuel Lewys (Machinery, Elwood, etc), additional keyboards by Andreas Lindahl (The Murder of My Sweet) and additional backing vocals by Angelica Rylin (The Murder of My Sweet).
All musicians and vocalists on this album come from slightly different areas in music making Crash The System an interesting mix of hard rock/AOR/metal styles.
Fans of 80's metal with influences of modern symphonic metal should not be disappointed with the catchy choruses and great melodies sung by some of the top hard rock singers around.
The CRASH THE SYSTEM debut album is called "The Crowning" and will be released on Frontier Records on July 3rd. The album is produced, mixed and mastered by Daniel Flores.

Crazy Lixx was formed in 2002 in Malmo, Sweden. The core line-up up until the first album consisted of vocalist Danny Rexon (also known as Dirtchild Danny or D.C. Danny), guitarist Vic Zino, drummer Joel Cirera and bass player Loke Rivano. The current line-up features guitarist Andy Dawson in Vic Zino's place after the latter joined Hardcore Superstar.
Crazy Lixx debuted with Loud Minority in November 2007, an album that notwithstanding an underground release, received a great acclaim from the media and fans, reaching position #2 in the national Swedish Hard Rock chart.
The band spent all of 2008 and parts of 2009 touring like hell all over Europe and writing material for the new album, working hard to define their own music style which, even though was often compared to the likes of Def Leppard, KISS, Warrant and Skid Row, it has now matured and evolved in a personal and ultra-melodic interpretation of the Sleaze-Arena Hard Rock style.
The final result is New Religion, the new album which includes a dozen Hard Rock gems (out of over the double amount of songs written) recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm, along with producer Chris Laney (Europe, Crashdiet, Candlemass).
We set out with one goal, and that was to beat the living s**t out of Loud Minority with these new songs, and if you ask me, we've beaten it black and blue. I can't wait to get these new songs played live, states singer Danny Rexon.

I usually like to give the fans a couple of comparisons to other bands but this one is tough. If I had to compare Cruella D'ville with someone else, I would say a cross between Shotgun Messiah and Skid Row.

On August 18th, 2007, Cry Wolf played together for the first time in nearly 15 years at Vinnie’s in Concord, CA. To celebrate this reunion, Cry Wolf recorded a three song EP (available on iTunes) featuring newly recorded versions of a few unreleased old favorites. The EP was produced by John Link and features Tim Hall (Lead Vocals), Steve McKnight (Guitar and Vocals), Phil Deckard (Bass and Vocals), and John Link (Drums). The reunion show also included original Cry Wolf drummer Paul Cancilla playing with the band on songs from their 1989 Japanese release "Cry Wolf" and 1990 US release "Crunch".
Cry Wolf has reformed with original members Tim Hall, Steve McKnight, Phil Deckard, and new drummer Chris Moore. A new, full CD is in the works for a 2009 release, as well as plans for a series of shows up and down the West Coast.

The Greek based outfit from Thessalonica, Crystal Tears has returned with their new released album, the successor of their previous and really great album” Choir Of Immortal” (2006). Since the releases of their previous album many changes took place, first of all Ian Parry took over the place behind the microphone stand, Ian Parry who is well known to the metal fans since he has been a member of many bands and projects and of course the lead singer of the Dutch progressive metallers Elegy, that especially in Greece has many fans. Crystal Tears also moved from Pure Steel records to 7Hard Records as well.
“Generation X” is the band’s second official album release that follows their classic power metal identity, with many up tempo parts, many melodic lines and of course follows also the classic power metal structure throughout their compositions. To be honest I spotted some specific parts that the band moves also into more progressive forms but without loosing their classic power metal feeling. Another factor that really made me fan of this album is the many changes of their guitar themes or just some great piece of riffing, something that tends to be wiped out these days, I don’t know maybe it’s out of date for some people. Dimitri’s leads and solos is another significant factor for this album to sound great as well. As for Ian Perry I feel like I don’t need to say anything, he is one the best vocalists out there and he proves that the best way. If we also add the very good clean production by R.D. Liapakis , then you can imagine the whole outcome, so “Generation X” in my opinion is an album that must get your attention, since it got mine who I am not a big fan of today’s power metal, but these guys make the difference.
