Limited edition re-issue (1000 copies) of the rare third album from Swiss singer Mark Paganini, which was originally released in 1990. Mark Paganini has his five minutes of fame with his debut “Weapon Of Love” and the cult hit “Berlin By Night”. Also the follow up “It’s A Long Way To The Top” (1987) was an enjoyable affair, but “Detox” is the weakest affair out of his three releases. This seems to be even more strange, cause Angi Schilliro of ZERO fame not only plays on the entire album, he also co-wrote most of the songs. This doesn’t means that “Detox” is a total stinker, cause “Guardian Angel”, “Heart’n Soul” or “Standing In The Light” are proper hard rockers, but there alsa couple of fillers inbetween

A melodically inclined Hard Rock band, PAGANINI was re-formed by vocalist Marco Paganini following his departure from the German outfit Viva in the early 80s for the albums 'What The Hell Is Going On?' and 'Dealer In The Night'. The singer was joined in his endeavour by his former band colleague Ralf Murthy. Their second album, 'It's A Long Way To The Top', saw the band secure major exposure during 1987 when they supported MÖTLEY CRÜE at their “Theatre Of Pain” tour in Europe and Scandinavia. Singer Marco Paganini suffered with massive drug problems and the band broke up shortly after. Digitally remastered re-issue from Yesterrock with the addition of 1 bonus track.

Pair-A-Dice played an important part in the rise of the L.A. Metal scene in the 80s.
Founding members Nick Masella (bass) and Paul Lancia (vocals) started Pair-A-Dice together in 1986. Daz (drums) joined soon after, followed by Billy D'Vette (guitar, vocals) and Dave Marshall (guitar, vocals).
This solidified the line up that went onto becoming one of the most exciting live bands on the Sunset Strip in the Mid 80’s
The next few years saw this hard rockin' band selling out shows at clubs such as: 'The Whiskey a Go Go', ‘The Troubadour', ‘The Roxy', Gazzari’s ,'Chuck Landis Country Club’, ‘The Marquee', and many others.
All the while, they would be writing and recording 'demo' tracks for a future album.
Pair-A-Dice enjoyed a huge following, and played with many of L.A.'s hottest bands like: Guns N Roses, Poison, Warrant, LA Guns, Bang Tango, Jet Boy, Tuff, Pretty Boy Floyd, Jailhouse, The Zeros, and Racer X.
"We got the chance to go to Japan as an unsigned band in 1989. This was unprecedented, and since we were always up for an adventure - off we went!
We toured Japan with Jet Boy selling out two shows at the MZA Sound Coliseum, and enjoyed doing numerous interviews and performing at Pair-A-Dice’s own headlining events. This made it possible for us to really see Tokyo and sample a taste of their culture."- Billy D'Vette
Upon their return to L.A. Paul started his own self-titled project: 'Lancia', and soon after, the remaining members of Pair-A-Dice all tried their luck with other groups: Dave went on to play with Brunette/ Fiona and The Vince Neil Band. Billy replaced Marc Ferrari in Cold Sweat. Nick played with Ashes II Ashes, And Daz played on Alice Cooper’s video “Line on You”.
Until now, their music has gone unheard except in the hearts of their faithful fans!

Retrospectacular
Pangea are a melodic hard rock band that should be a household name, as it stands the band are highly respected on the underground scene thanks to two albums released in the mid 1990’s.
“Retrospectacular” marks the release of the bands long thought lost third album with quite a story behind it. After the European release of their 2nd album “Manchild” in 1997 the band took quite a risk and started recording an expensive follow up to find out that the Japanese market was pretty much dead. This turned into a crisis for the band as half of the album was already done and they were without a contract.
Nearly 10 years later Torben Lysolm & co has finished the album and “Retrospectacular” is classic Pangea, led by the punchy and expressive guitar work and vocals of Lysolm, the band peddle a similar vein of rock to early Extreme.

Sunless Skies
Formed back in 2000, Pathosray are one of the best-kept secrets of the Italian metal scene. Originally going by the name N.D.E, the band, formed by drummer Ivan Moni Bidin, guitarist Luca Luison and vocalist Marco Sandron, soon established their own sound as a mixture of heavy metal, Progressive Metal and 70’s style Symphonic Prog-Rock.
In 2001 the band recorded its first demo, “Strange Kind Of Energies” – released in 2002 under the new band name Pathosray, which they promoted heavily through lots of concerts in their home country during the next few years.
By 2006 the band had established their line-up with bass player Fabio D’Amore and keyboardist Gianpaolo Rinaldi, and it was time for another demo – this time the very impressive “Deathless Crescendo” - which was well-received by the Italian media and of course more concerts followed around Italy.
In the fall of 2006 they started to record their first full-length album, simply titled “Pathosray”. The album was recorded at Angel's Wings studio by Nico Odorico and Mattia Sartori.
Once the album was completed, the band (now with new guitarist Alessio Velliscig) sent the disc to Danish based Intromental Management and once the awesome music on the album reached Denmark, a deal was soon in place.
“Pathosray”, the debut album, released on Sensory/Laser’s Edge in the USA and was a clever musical mixture of symphonic arrangements, technical parts and huge melodies. Musically it can be compared (but not completely fair towards Pathosray) with acts such as Dream Theater, Nevermore, Symphony X, Eldritch or Fates Warning.
The decision was made to have the album mixed at Jailhouse Studios in Denmark with world-renowned producer Tommy Hansen (a.o. Jorn, TNT, Beyond Twilight, Helloween, Pretty Maids). The great artwork was created by none other than Mattias Norén at ProgArt Media (known for Evergrey, Ayreon, Kamelot, Into Eternity and many more).
In support of the release, Pathosray played a few select shows around Italy and in September 2008 they went to America to perform for the first time in front of an enthusiastic ProgPower Festival crowd. 2 weeks later they played at ProgPower Europe in Holland receiving as good a response.
The rest of 2008 was spent on writing and recording the new album, “Sunless Skies”, which was recorded at Artesonika Studios in Italy, and mixed and mastered in Sweden by Johan Ornborg and Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Symphony X, Hammerfall, Opeth, Katatonia and more).

Babysteps
German producer/songwriter Henry Pauly recorded the entire album almost all by himself. Only the vocals were performed by a couple of well-known artists such as James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Michael Sadler (Saga) and Jody Ashworth (Trans Siberian Orchestra). Unfortunately, Ashworth is responsible for most of the vocals. His opera voice perfectly suits TSO without a doubt, but on 'Babysteps', his vocals are really bad. He is completely overreacting and he really holds down the musical level of the album. On the other hand Sadler does an excellent and LaBrie does not need any further introduction. Musically, Henning Pauly can be compared with Savatage; theatrical hard rock, featuring lots of calmer parts and choirs and orchestras.

Henning, who grew up in Germany until he was 22, studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He majored in Contemporary Writing and Production and Music Synthesis. He graduated summa cum laude in May 2000. He moved to Los Angeles where he works for an advertising company. Together with his boss, he formed jinglegroup, a music production house specialising in music for advertising. Henning has written, arranged and produced music in a wide variety of styles from ambient, jazz, big band, orchestral, solo piano, pop, rock, metal, progressive rock, a capella, minimal, musical and film scores. He is the man behind the band Chain, Frameshift and Babysteps.

"Forget about all the bands proclaiming they are playing AOR or even Pomprock. PEACE & QUIET is one of the best independent recording bands I discovered lately. They come out of Utah, USA and have released an album titled 'Peace & Quiet'. I heard a couple of songs and they sound really fantastic. One of their songs is called "Keep on pushin'", the ultimate dream for a fan of late 70s/early 80s AOR/Pomprock. This song is really superb classic AOR/Pomp. The songs starts with some Classic Pomp piano-keys like LE ROUX/SUGARCREEK/SHELTER and in fact the whole song is in exactly the same style as classic AOR/Pompbands such as LE ROUX, SUGARCREEK, ROADMASTER, TOUCH. Maybe some of you don't believe it, but its really true, this band is really awesome AOR/Pomp like it was made in the early 80s. Some of their other songs are sounding like HEAD EAST and are also great such as "Leave that world" and "Paradise".

Diamonds Unlocked
Now Pell is scheduled to release Diamonds Unlocked on October 1, 2007, his first album consisting exclusively of compositions by other musicians, proving his expertise when it comes to the history of rock and pop music. Axel Rudi Pell has recorded ten cover songs, among them surprising new versions of real classics. "I have always stressed that I don't have a hard rock and metal fixation, he points out. I don't think in terms of pigeonholes. If I like a track for whatever reason, I don't care about its stylistic direction. Every song on this album made me want to cover it at some stage when I heard the original."
Pell is referring to tracks such as the Phil Collins megahit In The Air Tonight, his own version sounding tailor-made for the ARP band. Of course we rearranged some of the songs to suit our style 100%, the maestro explains. "In The Air Tonight' features an extra drums and percussions part, plus added speed towards the end. And I don't suppose I have to mention that the guitar solo is longer than on the original."
Equally surprising, although certainly logical in this context, is the extremely catchy U2 number, Beautiful Day ("a timeless classic, absolutely wicked, an ingenious melody and a great chorus"), and the Chris Rea song Stone, which Pell discovered in a rather roundabout way. "It wasn't Chris Rea's original that convinced me but the cover version by The Law, a project initiated by Free/Bad Company/Queen vocalist Paul Rodgers and ex-The Who drummer Kenny Jones, from their 1991 debut album." Talking of Free and The Who: the ARP version of Won't Get Fooled Again sounds extremely classy and fast-paced, and Heartbreaker sees Pell present a classic by a band that has had a lasting influence on him. "Free inspired me to learn to play the guitar. Their guitarist Paul Kossoff had this extremely singing, melancholy blues sound that set him apart from thousands of other guitarists."
Diamonds Unlocked was recorded by the tried and tested line-up consisting of Axel Rudi Pell, vocalist Johnny Gioeli, keyboardist Ferdy Doernberg, bassist Volker Krawczak and drummer Mike Terrana. Pell produced the album single-handedly, and Charlie Bauerfeind took care of the mix.

Writing began shortly thereafter on the band's first album entitled "Coming into Focus”. This was Recorded in 1999 at On-Line Studio in Cincinnati, and was praised highly, garnering 14 out of 16 stars in the spring/summer 2000 issue of Progression Magazine (issue 35). The disc also received countless downloads over the then extremely popular mp3.com.
The follow up release "Progressions" combined remastered tracks from "Coming into Focus" in addition to new tracks. This disk was also received very well. The band then recorded an entire CD of new material in hopes of drawing label interest, exciting Lance King owner of Nightmare Records bringing back the nostalgia for the bands he loved in his 70’s youth of prog like Rush, Kansas, and Yes. Now being released on Nightmare on July 22nd, 2008's "Shadow of Doubt" is sure to garner a large smile from all fans of 70’s & 80’s Prog Rock.

This Is War
For Fans of JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN. PHANTOM-X was started in Dallas, Tx in 2004 by ex-OMEN singer, KEVIN GOOCHER and bassist, GLENN MALICKI. Goocher and Malicki along with then guitarist and drummer began writing and recording. The music was heard by MAUSOLEUM RECORDS out of Belgium and PHANTOM-X was soon signed for their debut release. “RISE OF THE PHANTOM” was released in 2005 and was voted #7 best metal albums by Heavy Magazine-Germany. PHANTOM-X toured with legendary metal band, ANVIL in 2005 to support their release. On this tour, the bands were video taped by Sacha Gervasi for a documentary called THE ANVIL STORY. Following this tour, PHANTOM-X quickly began writing for their follow up CD. “STORM RIDERS” was released in 2006. The band went on their second European Tour following this release. KEVIN GOOCHER joined the cast of a VH1 reality show in 2008 called I KNOW MY KIDS A STAR, which featured DANNY BONADUCE. Goocher has recently signed on to do a new reality tv show called ROCK RACE with RIKKI ROCKETT of POISON and STEVIE BENTON of DROWNING POOL. The new show begins taping in Summer of 2010. PHANTOM-X went back into the studio for their third CD that will be released on PERRIS RECORDS on January 26, 2010. This CD is to be titled “THIS IS WAR”. Dead Of Alive
Principally “Dead Of Alive”, debut album of American formation PHANTOM, is a great album. Principally, if there was not this abysmal production, which more than once awakens memories of the equally badly recorded LIVING DEATH debut. But you can’t hold this against the band, but rather their US label New Renaissance Records, which simply took the self-financed productions and slammed them on vinyl. And which combo had the money for a first class sound?
Okay, when you really crank up the stereo, the sound is not as bad and the music simply deserves to be heard. Straight forward Power Metal with powerful guitars and great catchy choruses and especially singer Falcon Eddie with his charismatic voice gives the material a lot of memorability. When the songs slow down, as on "Take Me Down Slow", he even sounds a bit like Robert Plant (LED ZEPPELIN). But mostly the songs are plowing ahead at a brisk speed, but without scratching the barrier of Speed Metal.
The melodies have a very European touch and should appeal to fans from ACCEPT to HAMMERFALL. Apart from the production there is no fallout, but tons of killer songs that still wait to be discovered. And the Drew Elliot cover artwork is great, too.
Contains the bonus track " No Evil On My Mind ".

The Poodles decided on producer Mats Valentin who had previously worked with the band on the two hit singles “Line of Fire” and “Raise the Banner”. The Poodles also contacted legendary producer-mixer Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake) to mix the album. Even though everyone in the band had grown up listening to Mike's productions, they were stunned to hear the results. The production of what was to become “Clash of the Elements” started in November 2008 and saw the release of the first single, “One out of Ten” on the 16th of February 2009. During February and March of 2009, “One out of Ten”, has aired regularly on Swedish radio and is presently top 10 in the single's charts. The release date in Sweden for ”Clash of the Elements” is set to the 20th of May 2009.
Big things are in the making for The Poodles during 2009. A world-wide release of “Clash of the Elements” along with domestic and international tours will be some of the highlights along the way. Sweden’s answer to Wig Wam is called The Poodles and it exactly copies the winning formula of Norway’s finest. Take four musos, which had their heydays some years ago (Pontus Norgren – Talisman/Great King Rat; Jakob Samuel – Talisman/Midnight Sun; Christian Lundqvist – RAW and Pontus Engberg – Lions Share), give them some proper songwriters (Matti Alfonzetti amongst others) and with the addition of an extravagant image the ball will start rolling. Necropoles
Posithrone is a gothic dark metal band from Austria delivering their debut, "Necropoles". From the sci-fi titled tracks such as "Cybernetic Unions" and "Gen-Errator," many listeners may pass the group off as another cheesy cyber metal band. However, while the album is dense with keyboards and science fiction ideas, the musical structure of the album is quite interesting and doesn't make the keyboards cheesy or random while creating a sort of "rock opera" atmosphere along with darkened vocals that rasp out the lyrics along groovy guitar riffs and a few well placed drums.
Despite having a few kinks in the mood, Posithrone's debut is certainly interesting. It merges sci-fi keyboards and themes with romantic riffs to create a style of cyber dark metal that isn't overly industrial nor cheesy and overplayed. Fans of The Kovenant, Poisonblack, and any gothic metal outfit will probably enjoy this a lot.

Second album from Powerwolf and definitely a vast improvement, on their debut ‘Return in Bloodred’ they presented a interesting mix of traditional heavy metal and power metal but only a couple of songs stood out “Kiss of the Cobra King” and “Lucifer in Starlight”, this time around they have managed to pack ten great tunes on the new album ‘Lupus Dei’. ‘Lupus Dei’ kicks of with a little intro called “Lupus Demonae” and then jumps right into the first real song “We Take it >From the Living” a song that kicks seriously ass and a fine example of how Powerwolf sounds here in 2007 – Faster, Heavier, Tighter and more bombastic. If Powerwolf continues to write music like this in the future they will find themselves fighting for the metal throne in the near future.

Praying Mantis debuted in 1981 with the release of "Time Tells No Lies" an album which is still considered as one of the best expressions of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal phenomenon, even though it did not have much commercial fortune.
In 1990 the band reformed with a new lineup featuring former Iron Maiden members Paul Di�Anno, Clive Burr and Dennis Stratton and went on to release a live album and later, with more lineup changes a string of 6 studio releases which had very good commercial fortune, particularly on the Japanese market.
After the release in 2003 of �The Journey Goes On� the band went into a sort of hiatus period, which was broken in the summer of 2007, when a new incarnation of the band - formed by the Troy brothers with Benjy Reid on drums, Andy Burgess on guitars and Mike Freeland on vocals - appeared at the Bang Your Head festival and later - in the summer 2008 - at the Headbanger�s Open Air Festival in Germany and at the Bloodstock Festival in the UK, while writing and recording the brand new stunning studio album.
Entitled �Sanctuary� the new Lp was recorded in Atlanta , USA under the direction of producer/engineer Andy Reilly ( Asia , The Cult, Bruce Dickinson, FM etc). The music is again very personal with plenty of great melodies and songs. The mix of lead and harmony guitar breaks and solos with great vocals and keyboards is fantastic with an overall songwriting on the highest levels all over. What we have here is a band that contains some very fine and experienced musicians who have put together a collection of songs that create a really classic album. A truly welcomed return !

The name says it all. A quintet from Bremen / Germany who play a coarse form of Rock ‘N Roll combined with a modern version of Heavy Metal and carry this from the live setting, right into the studio on new LP “Hell In A Box” - released on September 9th 2008. The production is timeless, inspiration comes from bands as diverse as Kyuss, Motörhead, Anthrax and Slayer but there’s every bit the Punk Rocker in there too as a powerful collection of songs and a gutsy performance hits the bullseye of Trash ‘N Roll with ease.
It’s been a roller-coaster for the Bremen bunch. From humble beginnings when Andy Classen (Die Apokalyptischen Reiter and Tankard) brought them into his studio to produce the fi rst EP, “Evil Goes To Hollywood”, through performing “Deathcar Racer” on MTV and then debut album “Trash ‘N Roll Asshole Show” in front of hundreds of people (with Betzefer in Europe) and then thousands of people (as the band were chosen by Angie Jorgensen (wife of Minstry’s Al) to be the main support throughout Europe on the last Ministry / FearFactory tour in 2006, the guys have stuck to their guns and have never faltered.
Festival appearances and hard nosed touring has honed the band into a fearsome line up as Motorjesus were to experience only too well in 2007 and Gwar certainly backed up later the same year. But, now it’s all about “Hell In A Box” which was recorded in the September of the last year with Guido Lucas (Blackmail, Smoke Blow) at BlueBox Studios in Troisdorf and was mastered by the same A.Classen at Stage One. Accompanied by the video to “Hell In A Box”, tracks like “Jesus Factor Negative”, “King Asshole” or the “Return Of The Speed Cowboys” anthem will have the guys right up there with “The Trash ‘N Roll Asshole Show” for attitude and on course for another big leap up the ladder !

It�s indeed a big surprise that this legendary Canadian outfit tries a new start, cause it�s fifteen years ago since they released their latest album (�Jericho�, 1993).
PRISM were without a doubt one of the major forces of the Canadian hard rock scene with classics like �Armageddon�, Small Change� or �See Forever Eyes�, but after the tragical death of singer Ron Tabak things went downhill.
With just one original member on board (guitarist Al Harlow, which now also handles the lead vocals), �Big Black Sky� is a wonderful trip back to the glorious 80s stuff, cause it offers a radio friendly AOR sound with some poppy overtones and nice melodies all over the place. Not a classic, but a very enjoyable release.

Evel Knievel Factor
PRIVATE LINE hails from Finland and compared to most of the other Finnish bands they’re much more into the classic hard – and melodic rock sound, cause I think it might be better to compare them to bands like Brother Firetribe, Lovex and Pretty Maids. Private Line's new album "Evel Knievel Factor" is one size bigger both soundwise and songwise than their debut from 2004. They open the new album with the title track which is a dynamite rocker in the Backyard Babies vein, the more melodic "Sound ADvice" is more of a modern rock/AOR song with H.I.M influences. The riffs on the bombastic "Alive" are as heavy as a B52 bomber. Their singer has a voice that is perfect for the 80's L.A hardrock scene but it sure fits PL's music too, he sounds like a Vince Neil with lots of singing lessons on his back. Full marks for another killer record from Finland!

Power Of The Damager
The band’s line-up has two new members in the fold. Pushing it “over the borderline” is bassist Monte Pittman, who also plays guitar as a touring member for Madonna—yes, that’s right. Aaron Rossi is on drums and founding father Tommy Victor returns as strong and maniacally as ever strapped to his guitar, wailing, singing, and bleeding out unbridled aggression and truth behind the microphone.
The second song, “No Justice,” exemplifies heavy metal with a punk rock attitude. Pittman and Rossi make a pulverizing bottom end that, along with maestro Victor, makes this Prong a true power trio. The title track along with the closer, “Changing Ending Troubling Times,” are but two more tracks on the 12 song CD that rip. Though Prong may not be responsible for bringing sexy back, Power Of The Damager is an album that is keeping heavy music alive while shaking up the status quo.

Devil's Bridge
The Prowlers were born in Rome (Italy) during winter 1996 as a Coverband, but soon the band started to compose their own music. Due to a wide range of musical backgrounds of the bandmembers, the songwriting is influenced by different styles, from Hardrock to NWOBHM, from Power Metal to Progressive.
In 1999 the band recorded their first Demo, followed by a full professional studio album in 2000. It was entitled "A Descent into the Maelstorm" and was inspired by the E.A. Poe novel. The guys sent their piece to several Labels, Webzines and Magazines all around the world, and it received more than positive feedback. One year later, the Prowlers recorded another Demo CD with title "Souls Thieves", which they sent to some record labels. After few months the italian label "Northwind Records" signed the band, and the first step was done!
In 2005, after a lot of positive feedback from the medias, the guys decided to enter the studio again for a new masterpiece, and the new album "Devil‘s Bridge", which includes 10 new songs, was produced. The demo was sent to Intromental Management, who liked what they heard, and so they offered a deal. Finaly "Devil‘s Bridge" were mixed in Jailhouse Studio‘s (Horsens, Denmark) in October 2005, under the guiding eyes of Tommy Hansen (Helloweenn, Pretty Maids, TNT, Beyond Twilight, etc). The result is a powerful piece of Heavy Metal music, who will please all Fans of heavy tunes with catchy riffs, and a striking voice

PYRAMAZE was founded in winter 2001/2002 by the danish guitarist Michael Kammeyer. He didn't have to look far to find the first 2 musicians, as local drummer Morten Gade Sørensen and bassist Niels Kvist immediately jumped on the opportunity to join Michael in his quest. The next person to sign on was American keyboardist Jonah Weingarten. After listening carefully to a couple of vocalist demos Lance King was the right person for singing.
With their debut album ”Melancholy Beast” PYRAMAZE had gained exceptional reviews from the media all over the world. Pyramaze received 5 awards for best newcomer of 2004, and metal-fans soon recognized Pyramaze as one of the hottest underground metal names of their genre.
The 2nd album "Legend of the Bone Carver" received exceptional reviews from the metal media around the globe, and many genre fans call it the best concept album ever.
In November of 2006 Lance King was fired. In December Michael started communicating with the great Matthew Barlow (Iced Earth vocalist), and after many pleasant conversations and a bit of "auditioning" Matt joined the 'Pyramaze Fellowship' in March 2007.
The new album ’Immortal’ was recorded during late 2007 / early 2008. During that time Matt Barlow has joined forces with Iced Earth again, but both Matt and the rest of the guys in Pyramaze felt strongly that this should not be a reason for not completing the album with Matt behind the mic. So the recording of ’Immortal’ went on as planned, and the outcome is a unique and uncompromising album of beauty and power. And the story continues…..

Never Enough
When it comes to music I can’t say Italy is a very well marked spot on my map so when I popped this first full length effort by Milan based quintet The Pythons into my CD player, I wasn’t really expecting much. But guess what…the listening experience turned quite enjoyable.
The guys have recorded an album that deserves to be heard by anyone with a taste for some well played melodic hard rock with a present day edge. By no means a master piece but the package nevertheless contains plenty of good melodies and in the shape of mister Frank Law they have a vocalist with an excellent set of tonsils, reminding me at times of Bonfire throat Clauss Lessmann. And while on the subject of the latter, if you ever wondered what a slightly updated version of the German act would sound like then these guys are well worth a listen.
