The 5-track-appetizer of the new U.D.O.-Album DOMINATOR (to be released end of August this year) is promising great things – but do you really expect anything else than great stuff by U.D.O.? Even the title song of this EP – a first class double bass hymn in tradition of Accept-able headbangers like ’Breaker, ’TV War’ or (to stick to U.D.O.) ’Thunderball’ – reminds on the good old classic era of Dirkschneider’s former band. Same with both non-album-tracks: ’Systematic Chaos’ is a dark riff-rocker à la ’London Leather Boys’ - ’Body Wolrd’ a mid-tempo hymn in ’Up To The Limit’ direction. Mastercutor
One of the laws of heavy metal is for sure, that you will not be disappointed at all when it comes to new releases from Udo Dirkschneider and his band. For sure there is also great albums and ones that are only ok, but I really can´t remember a bad one. The last release “Mission No. 10” was one of the ones that only was ok. But you will be getting a very good one right away. “Mastercutor” has modern influences and a up to date production, but it is still typical U.D.O. all through. The songs are just as you are used to it and Udo´s voice sounds just like it always does. This is pure heavy metal and “Mastercutor” is for sure the best U.D.O. release since “Man & Machine”.

This is the limited 3-Disc set !
This is the third live album presented by the living legend of Metal music, Udo Dirkschneider. The ’personal’ band of ACCEPT’s frontman runs for 20 yars now. Woa; Udo made it longer in his solo career - even if the myth of ACCEPT shall never be surpassed, I guess. "Mastercutor Alive" was recorded live at Tuttligen, Germany (mid-2008) and proves to have been a helluva party. Just check the tracklist.
U.D.O. songs: the band - featuring fellow-ACCEPT comrade Stefan Kaufmann, for those who are not aware - selected a sufficient variety of albums to take samples from; we even see two songs from their debut 1987 album, "Animal House". Reasonably enough, main portion comes from the latest "Mastercutor" studio release, with the quintet providing high-energy Heavy Metal in (mostly) mid-pace manners, but with ’lightning strikes’ speeders too. Udo’s voice shelters no surprise: for those not standing his tone, there’s no good news. Admirers of his harsh attitude - on the other hand - will benefit for one more time. The musician’s bond is something obvious, in addition. Even if the songs cannot follow some innovative pattern, truth is you will not have the chance to stand still listening to esteemed cuts such as "Mastercutor", "24/7", "The Wrong Side Of Midnight", "Animal House" and "Holy". Well done, also bearing in mind the solo parts are indeed needed as breaks.
ACCEPT songs: Even if Udo and Co. has enough discography to take over a whole 2-hour set, there’s no possibility a U.D.O. gig would feature no ACCEPT songs apart from the obvious reference, we should point out U.D.O.’s career steps enough on the ACCEPT stones in general terms of songwriting/tempos. Hence, a total of eleven songs straight from the Solingen-based famous Metal band’s glorious 80s history is served to honor the ideals of a proud metalhead; headbanging, air-guitar playing and dunno-what-else behavior/response. Among expected ACCEPT hymns it’s fine to see some long hidden ’diamonds’ such as e.g. "Winterdreams" or "Burning" in the setlist; full of affection and respect is the band’s performance in these songs, while the crowd - cannot get if they’re vivid or not by the audio mix - should not complain to the generous offer by Udo’s gang.

The Monkey Puzzle
True rock legends distinguish themselves not only by contributing several classics to musical history, they also keep their artistic output at a permanently high level and – despite all routine – always have a fresh wind blowing through their band structure. UFO fulfils all these criteria: next to classics such as Phenomenon, Force It and No Heavy Pettin, which saw the band clock up one success after the other during the Seventies, and the beginning of the new millennium finds Phil Mogg, Pete Way and Paul Raymond as inspired and creative as ever. British rock legends UFO will release their brand-new studio album, "The Visitor", in late May/early June via SPV/Steamhammer. UFO composed more than 35 new tracks in the run-up to the recordings, 13 of which were short-listed and produced at the studio. 11 of these songs are expected to make it onto the regular album, while the other two are scheduled to become bonus tracks on the limited-edition digipack. The current lineup continues to consist of the three original members, Phil Mogg (vocals), Paul Raymond (guitar, keyboards), and Andy Parker (drums), as well as American world-class guitarist Vinnie Moore. Bass legend and original member Pete Way is currently suffering from a liver disease and was unfortunately not available for the studio production.
"All those who have been into UFO for a long time will find all our characteristic trademarks on 'The Visitor', and anybody new to the band will be impressed by our enthusiasm and dynamism," frontman Phil Mogg enthuses on the subject of the new songs. Lost In Attraction
Lost in Attraction. This is truly a wonderful album and the unusual thing is it sounds more American / Canadian than it does Swedish. Those eighties influences have definitely made an indelible mark with these two talented guys as they have made an album which is very much worth talking about. Strong melodies, catchy riffs and a plethora of keyboards. Just check out “Bring me in” the album opener, a classic start with haunting vocals, strutting guitars and a grand wall of keyboards. The chorus is instant and crescendo’s into a majestic masterpiece. The title track itself smacks of Journey mixed with Survivor and there are many other eighties vibes along the way. “Can’t believe” is worthy of special mention, with its huge choruses and melodic guitars.

Wake The Sleeper
You can't imagine the excitement when this CD arrived. Uriah Heep are back, first album in 10 years and best album in nearly 20. Record compa-ny probs aside it's good to see the band signed to a major label. Uriah Heep had a lengthy stable period, the only change here is the departure of longtime drummer Lee Kerslake and coming in is Russell Gilbrook. Joining him are singer Bernie Shaw, bassist Trevor Bolder, pianist Phil Lan-zon and Mick Box on guitar. The title track opens and really smacks you square in the face, heavy and operatic in true Heep fashion. "Overload" continues with guitar and keyboard riffs aplenty. I could go on, but you get the idea, it's a great album, a solid feel throughout. A clear statement of intent, and while there's a distinct nod at the 80s and 90s, it's a big step forward. Yes they've hit the 21st century late, but they've hit it running.

UZI was formed on Chicago's south side in late 1986 by childhood friends and co-founders, singer, songwriter, bassist Nicholas Flynt and guitarist Keith Johnson.
A decade earlier their friendship was forged on a school playground by their equally unquenchable thirst for musical classics like "KISS - Alive!", Aerosmith's "Rocks", and Van Halen "Van Halen". They each bought guitars and formed a band and as the 70's gave way to the 80's they became influenced by the metal rock wave ridden by bands like AC/DC, Judas Priest, and Motley Crue.
