As the title indicates, Facemelter is a hard rockin', song-oriented album that lives up to its name. Recorded mostly live in the studio, it captures the band's raw energy and tightness that they've become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems.
Face-melting is a term that has been with Y&T since the mid-'70s, when a rabid fan ran backstage and told the band, "you melted my face," which inspired the group's first publishing company: "Facemelting Music."

Incorrect Species – double CD
Despite being one of the heaviest and most consistent US metal acts of the early 80's, Y&T never broke the big time and split in 1990 in an AOR haze. Unwisely, they returned in 1995 during the height of the grunge and pop punk crazes. Accordingly, this rates as perhaps one of the worst comebacks in metal and rock history, as the band firmly embraced grunge with none of the high pitched melodic metal bluster that epitomized their 1980-1983 heyday. With "Endangered Species" Y&T returned to their 70ies/early 80ies roots. Solid hardrock, a bit bluesy all the time, often reminding me of some Van Hagar (Van Halen with Sammy Hagar) songs.
This album offers straight hardrock songs, but not as strong as they used to be during their heydays. Both albums has been re-issued by the band on a double CD containing some additonal live video material.
