The basis of the AMBITION project were put during the year 2002, when Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino approached singer Joe Vana, of MECCA fame, in order to bring back on the spotlight one of the “long lost” AOR golden throats - Thom Griffin.
He reappeared again – after a silence lasted some 20 years! - on the music scene singing backgrounds on the MECCA album, where Vana ironically, shared lead vocals with Fergie Fredriksen (ex TOTO, LEROUX): the first singer in Griffin’s original band TRILLION.
Griffin gained in fact his cult-status singing with TRILLION on “Clear Approach”, a magnificent example of Pomp Rock which still today stands the test of time and that got recently reissued in the year 2000 on Sony Music in Japan.
Vana and Griffin soon went into the studio and cut the song “Waiting In My Dreams” (a remake of a hidden treasure from the MR. MISTER repertoire), who took melodic rock fans by storm on the ROCK THE BONES vol. 1 compilation, released on Frontiers in 2003 and is now included as a bonus track on the finished release.
Unfortunately things sometimes aren’t easy as they seem and Joe Vana had to resign from the project, because of other personal commitments. Griffin then remained without a producer and a songwriting partner and the album was about to be put on hold indefinitely.
But it was only thanks to Perugino’s patience and persistence that AMBITION saw the light of the day in the end! He hired producer Fabrizio Grossi (GLENN HUGHES, STARBREAKER, VERTIGO etc.) to care about the recording sessions and asked around to supply the proper material that could suit best Griffin’s soaring vocal abilities. Joey Carbone, longtime Joseph Williams’ (ex TOTO singer) sonwgriting partner answered the call and supplied “No Wasted Moments” and “Together”. But thanks to this idea he was also able to discover a couple of talents in the persons of Christian Wolff, a very gifted songwriter from Sweden (who in the meanwhile has become the new songwriting partner of ON THE RISE’s Terje Eide – who also has a song on this album “Shaping Fate and Destiny”) and Brian LaBlanc, who later on got a recording contract with his own band BLANC FACES with his brother Robbie.
The recording of the project could finally restart at the end of 2004 and since the music had an obvious resemblance to TOTO’s sound on “Isolation” and The Seventh One”, the producers thought to enlist the services of Swedish guitar ace Tommy Denander, who could have the perfect AOR touch for this release!
Still keen on the idea of having two singers sharing lead vocals duties – and since Vana could not yet resolve his troubles - at the very last minute, Perugino and Grossi thought it was cool to have a guest spot from short-lived TOTO singer Jean-Michel Byron. He duets with Griffin on “Too Much” and “Hypocrites” and sings leads on “Hunger” giving a “special touch” to the release.
An interesting way to have AOR desaparecidos meeting with new talent? You can bet AMBITION is all this, but much much more !

Birmingham has always been recognised as producing famous rock and heavy metal bands, Black Sabbath being the most notable,and of course the great Magnum. Following in the tradition of such household names is Angel House, a band who play their own brand of hard rock music, with a 70’s and 80’s influence. They already have a great following thanks to their awesome live set.
They haveopened for such bands as Blue Oyster Cult, Tyketto and Mountain as well as headlining their own tours.
In 2004 due to popular request they produced a two track single featuring the fan’s favourite – Superstitious Woman – and managed to
get airplay on BBC Radio and Radio Gets Wild. They won an award on RGW and they shared the best band slot with Las Vegas
band “Dark Life”. They are held in high esteem, especially in the USA where they have toured the west coast.
They have since gathered an army of fans due to sheer determination.
In 2007 they released their debut album “World on Fire” produced by Mark Stuart of Magnum fame. The release saw the band receive
excellent reviews and has prompted some to predict the re-emergence of a new strain of NWOBHM with Angel House leading the way. The band, consisting of only three members; Pete, Simon and Phil are regarded as a no-nonsense trio who just get on with the job in hand.
After recent appearances in the UK with bands such as Tygers of pan tang, John Waite and Von Groove, Angel House have returned
to the studio and are poised to release their second album “The Gun, The Love and the Cross”, once again with producer Mark Stuart.

The legendary AOR band Bad Habit formed in Lund, Sweden in 1986 by Hal Marabel and now ex-keyboard player Doc Pat Shannon. They released their first album (mini-album) 'Young & Innocent' in 1987 and were actually the first band to get an independantly produced music video aired on Swedish national TV. The video was of their first ever single release 'Need Somebody'. The band have since released 7 albums, their latest of them released in 2005, entitled [hear-say].

Los Angeles 1990, David Reece and drummer Rusty Miller were ready to form a heavy but melodic Rock n Roll band named 'BANGALORE CHOIR' A place to look for great guitar players was the GIT in Hollywood so John Kirk and Danny Greenberg were found. Sharing the same musical vision the writing began. First songs were 'All or Nothin' and 'Slippin Away', both on the 'On Target' release. While rehearsing, John mentioned the guitarist Curt Mitchell who had worked with a previous group out of Reno, NV called 'Razormaid' so another great guitarist was found! Rusty Miller and the group parted ways, new drummer Darek Thomas Cava (ex Brunette) replaced him. After a couple shows they had offers from almost every label in town and settled with Giant Records and recorded 'On Target' released 1991/1992.
So now to the present, David Reece was asked to sing on Swedish rockers Gypsy Rose new record "Another World" in 2007 and while there they performed at the "Sweden Rock Festival". While speaking to his fans he was asked repeatedly about when there would be a new Bangalore Choir record? With the fantastic support from fans worldwide David reached out to guitarist Curt Mitchell and bassist Danny Greenberg asking if they would like to make a new record, both of them eagerly accepted the challenge. Also on this new record are guitarist Andy Susemihl of U.D.O. fame handeling songwriting and guitars as well as doing a masterful job on production and Hans in't Zandt on drums.
David Reece comments: "We knew if we were to make a new record that in order for it to be viable we had to keep some of the old formula that worked so well in the past which we have done! The new record by Bangalore Choir is called "Cadence" -- continuing with blistering guitars pounding rhythms and big hooky choruses."
Bangalore Choir will go on tour in Europe in early October 2010 playing such shows as the H.E.A.T. Festival as well as the Firefest in England we also plan to tour the Asian market as well as some U.S. dates.

Markus Grosskopf has been a busy man for more than twenty years and he is an even busier man now. The bass player of Germany's melodic metal legend HELLOWEEN has just released the 12th studio album called “Gambling With The Devil” with his band and is preparing for yet another extensive world tour with one of the most successful metal acts of the present. And Grosskopf has one more ace up his sleeve: it is called Markus Grosskopf's Bassinvaders and it shows a completely new side of his musical talent.
Bassinvaders has been a creation of Markus while sitting in a bar and enjoying a few drinks. There it was that he got inspired to an impressive idea: a heavy rock record without any guitars at all.Could such a concept work out? Indeed it can! As you will experience on this first Bassinvaders-record called “Hellbassbeaters” lying in front of you. It contains all basic elements a heavy rock song really needs and so much more. You got the strong vocals, rhythmic bass, intoxicating drums and even bass & twin bass solo parts.
What you hear is what you get: 100 % genuine heavy / rock record with absolutely no discordant guitar note on it at all. To guarantee a great variety of different influences Markus invited some well-known singing bass players from the German metal scene to join the band. And they didn't need an extra invitation. Songs like Boiling Blood, We Live, Voices, Razorblade Romance, Armageddon or the storming Bassinvaders version of the classic Helloween anthem Eagle Fly Free are proving that Markus' late night idea won't be just a one-off slap, but the foundation for another “battlefield” for the always smiling bassist.

Charlemagne was formed sometime during 1987. Scott and Raymond had moved to Hollywood in September of 1986 when Scott was scheduled to begin the 1986-1987 Session at Musicians Institute’s GIT. It was during that time that Scott met Ken Kowalski who was attending PIT, and Lee Brian who was attending BIT. While it was common practice for students from all of the schools to play together during LPW (Live Playing Workshop), Scott, Ken, and Lee never actually played together during those times. Scott had observed Ken and Lee playing with other players at various times and after hearing the both of them, he approached them on different occasions to discuss the possibility of forming a band outside of school. Several rehearsals were scheduled to explore this possibility after which it became obvious to all this was to be a great fit indeed.
After a solid year of an average of 3 nights per week, the band was ready for primetime in the Los Angeles club scene. One interesting side note was the rehearsal space that the band used. In the middle of the industrial district of Los Angeles in a city called Vernon was a lock-out rehearsal facility named “Francisco’s Studios”. Francisco’s consisted of two buildings with a total of 117 rehearsal rooms all rented by the month. On any given night throughout the week, literally 90% of the rooms were filled with as many local rock acts rehearsing their shows. Since these rooms allowed 24-hour access, bands rehearsed at all hours of the week as well. It was not uncommon at all for 25 bands to even be rehearsing at 7:00am on a Sunday morning. Another interesting tidbit was the Purina Chicken Feed factory located about ¼ mile from Francisco’s. During the summer, the odor produced from that factory was EXTREMELY heavy. When Charlemagne joined BMI in 1990, the membership application required 5 possible names for membership.
While it was easy to come up with the first four possibilities, a fifth name eluded the band. In an act of frustration, the fifth name submitted was “Boiling Beaks Music” which was coined from the process used at the Purina factory to manufacture chicken feed. Sure enough when the application was accepted, BMI used “Boiling Beaks Music” as the name. That name is still registered with BMI today.
Charlemagne played at all the major clubs in Los Angeles and Orange County, including those on the Sunset Strip. While most bands were using the typical equipment setups, everyone in Charlemagne used Rack-Mounted Rigs, including Ken. A friend in another band noticed we were pretty much the only band in town doing this, and nicknamed us “The Rack Band”. The name stuck with a lot of our colleagues in other bands. Some of these bands even asked permission to play some of our songs in their shows. The band agreed. So on any given night in Hollywood, those in attendance for these other bands actually got to hear Charlemagne songs even though Charlemagne was elsewhere.
The late 80’s and Early 90’s were truly a historical time in the evolution of Rock and Roll. Great hair, cool clothes, and “Shred” guitar defined the thousands of bands that played the Hollywood circuit. 7 nights a week, Hollywood was filled with bands and fans that made no apologies for their culture. It was the pinnacle generation of musicianship, and a time when music was intended to be fun and make you feel good. The rest of the world followed the trend set by the Hollywood bands. All who were fortunate enough to be a part of it in Hollywood will attest to the electricity that fueled the Hollywood Hair Band era. It was a magical time when Rockstars were really Rockstars. The sad thing is that there was just not room enough for everyone, so a lot of great bands didn’t catch a ride on the “Record Deal” bus. Ask any member of any of the bands who were there about Hollywood in the 80’s and early 90’s, and most will agree it was the best of times when history was being made.

Word To The Wise
Brazilian singer André Matos (ex-ANGRA, SHAAMAN) will make a special guest appearance on "Word To The Wise", the debut album from the Italian heavy metal band CLAIRVOYANTS (formerly an IRON MAIDEN tribute act). Matos will sing the only cover song featured on the album — IRON MAIDEN's "Hallowed Be Thy Name", which was chosen by Matos as his favorite track ever in MAIDEN's repertoire. Also scheduled to appear on the CD is KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai.
Longtime friends Matos and CLAIRVOYANTS will perform together on Octoebr 24 at Milan's Live Club and October 25 at Tempo Rock in Gualtieri (RE), Italy.
"Word To The Wise" is will be released at the end of December. It will contain nine original songs plus the MAIDEN cover. The CD's artwork was created by Nerve Design Studio (THRESHOLD, VISION DIVINE, ELDRITCH, EXTREMA).

Where Stories End
In April 2010 Darkwater started to record their new album “Where stories end”. The famous Studio "Fredman" was chosen for the mix and mastering of the album, and during the summer of 2010 the album was completed, also recording a music video for the opening track of the album “Breathe”.
With all the great reviews and response for their debut album, Darkwater surely felt some pressure to produce a great follow-up album, which they managed to do without any doubts. “Where stories end” is a master piece of melodic progressive metal, and will not leave any fans of the band or the genre disappointed.
Darkwater was formed late 2003 in the western parts of Sweden. During the first years of existence they only did a few selected shows in Sweden while working on the material for their debut album. During summer and fall 2006, Darkwater recorded and mixed the album, and early 2007 a deal was inked with the Swedish label Ulterium Records.
“Calling the earth to witness” was released in May 2007 and received extremely good reviews from all around the world. Darkwater’s perfect blend of melodic and progressive metal was something the scene was craving for, and while taking inspiration from bands like Symphony X, Dream Theater and Evergrey, Darkwater have for sure created a sound of their own.

The Take Us Alive concert DVD and audio CD, was recorded at the House of Blues August 8th 2009 in Extreme’s hometown of Boston, MA. “We wanted to do something really special for our hometown fans that were there for us since the beginning… the club days,” states Nuno. “It was the last night of the tour and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by bringing it back to where it all started… Boston.”
The concert showcases material from the majestic new album as well as classics from discs like 1990’s multi-platinum, Pornograffitti, 1992’s critically acclaimed III Sides to Every Story, a surprise medley from Extreme’ debut record and the mood-setting “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know” off of 1995’s Waiting For the Punchline.”
There are beautiful moments on the DVD/CD, like on the piano-steered, atmospheric “Ghost,” which exhibits Extreme’s broad stylistic abilities. As well as multiple passionate audience participations like on their #1 hit “More Than Words” and the top 5 “Hole Hearted.” The crowd’s enthusiasm highlights the loyal support their fan base has had for this beloved foursome.
There is a blistering rendition of the Zeppelin-minded “Comfortably Dumb” the scorching “Play with Me” and the funked-up “Cupid’s Dead.” Other highlights include the anthemic “Get The Funk Out” as well as the crowd favorite “Decadence Dance”. Main men behind this Swedish studio project are: Marcus Jidell (Royal Hunt), who has produced the album and plays guitars, and piano, Uno Sjöström, who has co-produced and plays guitars and Johan Langquist (Ex-Candlemass), who does the male lead vocals on "Expressions", their debut album. And they have called in help from around the world to make this an exciting rock album; Robin Beck is doing the lead vocals on four tracks as well as backing vocals together with her husband James Christian (House of Lords), Tomas Broman plays drums on nine songs and the whole thing has been co-produced and engineered by Pontus Nordgren (HammerFall). We shouldn’t forgot that “Expressions” contains the last recordings from the great Marcel Jacobs before his suicide. A solid album which appears to fans of 80s Europe, Whitesnake and Robin Beck.

Kidd Havok's music can be described as some of the very best hair metal, certainly that I have ever heard, both released and un-released material. These guys could of easerly stood tall with the big boys that were signed to the major labels back in the day. Axeman, Scot Marcs brings blazing guitars to the music reminiscent of the great Nuno Bettercourt. From Slash to Harry Cody to even the best of C.C. Deville's guitar chops that he was busting out in the early 90's. From the opening riff you will be stopped in your tracks at his genius! This is very special stuff, every song holding its very own piece of magic. In periods of the album you can almost hear Marc go surfing with the alien, O.K. you get the point, this guy shredds!!
Kidd Havok play their own brilliant type of Extreme/Skid Row type street sleaze metal with axe work that sends shivers down your spine. Other comparisons go to Dirtyworks, Bad 4 Good, Hericane Alice, Dirty Rhythm, Slik Toxik, Slash Puppet, Sven Gali and Lillian Axe. All in all, to me this is perfectly crafted hair metal and over time, may even go down as a classic hair metal album

Fenrik Lane originate from Bergen, Norway. They have been playing together since 1997, making their debut in 1998 with the single "Shoe", the result of coming first place in a rock competition. In 2002 they released the independent EP "Come Down Here" which sold an amazing 20,000 copies in their native country -- a result of constant touring and an acclaimed energetic live show. The band's original vocalist was Kurt Nilsen -- who entered and won Norwegian Idol, later going on to take the big price in World Idol late in 2003. Kurt then quit the band to continue his solo career.
Fenrik Lane became a trio, with guitarist Knut Glesnes taking over as lead singer, displaying a compelling and unique style of his own. In 2005 the band released their first full album, "Lane of Life". This time the band really wanted to sound like a trio with no additional effects. After years of hard work brainstorming every idea, Fenrik Lane has now released their second full album titled "317".

Nobodies is a Norwegian band made up of five guys releasing their debut record Oh Yes, There will be Blood… The album holds nine straightforward rock & roll songs. It is very clear that these guys get inspired by bands as Motörhead, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dokken etc.
The lyrics are also much straightforward with none of the ideological/political/philosophical themes about anything. They deal only with pussy (women), drinking and partying in general. It is in no sense a special or remarkable release, it is not even original either, yet it was not their attention as they only want to entertain and have fun. Keeping that in mind, I think that this album can be viewed as a success. Best song, and also the funniest one, is the one called “Swedish Girls” which is kind of an ode to the most beautiful ladies on the planet.
Here in Scandinavia we all dig Swedish girls and after you’ve heard this song you’ll know why. If you’re into a mix of hard and sweaty rock n roll as played in the 80s then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this CD as much as I did, but please promise not to dig too deep into the lyrics or cover artwork, you’ll get disappointed.

It�s indeed a big surprise that this legendary Canadian outfit tries a new start, cause it�s fifteen years ago since they released their latest album (�Jericho�, 1993).
PRISM were without a doubt one of the major forces of the Canadian hard rock scene with classics like �Armageddon�, Small Change� or �See Forever Eyes�, but after the tragical death of singer Ron Tabak things went downhill.
With just one original member on board (guitarist Al Harlow, which now also handles the lead vocals), �Big Black Sky� is a wonderful trip back to the glorious 80s stuff, cause it offers a radio friendly AOR sound with some poppy overtones and nice melodies all over the place. Not a classic, but a very enjoyable release.

Dead Girls Don't Say No
In 2007 a band called Ragdolls was re-burn from beginings as a cover band to a horror-punk band when Vikki Violence had enough of all the boring hardcore/emo/metal music that was going on in his small hometown of Varberg. He wanted to create something new, mix old stuff with new stuff, and shock people with twisted lyrics and weird stage behavior. The band's original members from this time were: Vikki Violence on guitar and vocals, Dr. Kratz on bass and Drae Toxx on drums. The band did more gigs all around Sweden, wrote a couple of songs and recorded a demo named 'Ragdolls'. One song they wrote for a band contest was "All Emo Kids Must Die" and it became one of the most loved and hated song in their hometown. It's an ironic song and not something you should take too seriously. Later, at the end of the year, the band split up because of personal problems and lack of time. Vikki wanted to keep on writing music but none of the original members wanted to re-unite the band.
Vikki kept on writting music and one day in the end of the year he met Chx at a party at a friend's house. They talked about Ragdolls and Chx really wanted to be a part of it, he wanted to do the same thing as Vikki was doing. They discussed it all over and in the summer of 2009 they recorded a seven track EP called 'Drink, Dig, Die' and made a digital release. Later on in the fall, an old childhood friend Damaged L just left his band and was looking for something new to do. He called Vikki up and asked if he could be a part of the band since he loved the EP they recently released. In the winter of 2009 they found their drummer, a short 23 years old guy who could beat the hell out of those drums, we're talking about Broken Bridget. So Vikki asked him if he would like to try it out and after that all the pieces fell in the right place -- Ragdolls now had a full line-up again. This was something new, nothing like the old stuff.
Pre-production of the upgoming album was recorded and gigs all over Sweden were made with stage shows like you've never seen before. So if you ever see a band wearing dresses and pantyhose with plateau boots, soaking themselves in water and other kinds of liquid, with toys, chainsaws and tombstones on stage, screaming and acting really weird, and rocking the hell out of their songs, it's just Ragdolls!

On March 11, 2011 one of the biggest natural disasters hit the country of our close friends in Japan. The earthquake, the tsunami and the nuclear devastation and the resulting inapprehensible pictures on TV left us in sadness and depression and caused a feeling that something needed to be done to help.
The original idea was to release a Melodic Rock/ Hard Rock charity album for Japan and to donate all profit of the sales income of this CD, which you are holding in your hand right now, to the Red Cross in Japan. An e-mail was sent to some bands in order to find out if any of them would be interested in participating in this project. From this point on, the idea started to move and caused massive feedback. Within the first 24 hours after this message had been sent, more than 20 highly profiled bands and artists from all over the world already had offered to take part by contributing previously unreleased material each.
Since many of these bands have got a long history which is heavily connected to the Japanese country and it’s loyal friends for these special kinds of musical styles, this participation means a lot for them. The songs you can hear on this record come deeply from their hearts and even though this seems to be just a small thing that can be done, all these little pieces – and this also includes the income of this project and the donations as a result of it – will be one part of an over-all big puzzle that may help in the end.

A Madness Within
I wonder if Chicago's Sacred Dawn doesn't feel just a little out of place in the American metal scene. There is nothing 'new school' about them or their sophomore release A Madness Within, excepting the cover (perfect for the times) and a few songs (more about this in a moment).
This is classic (North) American heavy metal invoking Eighties origins and the same glory, maybe a touch of the UK's New Wave of British Heavy Metal and some progressive metal nuances. So, you can hear a broad range of influences: from Queensryche and Fate's Warning to Savatage and Iron Maiden. There's immense talent here, and some very satisfying heavy metal.
But you might be thrown into a conundrum at the start. The opening piece, The Untold Story, is a brooding, nearly sluggish, piece that hardly invites you into the rest of the album. What You Did to Me follows and mostly invokes old school heavy rock. But things get old school cool with the A Madness Within, the prog character of Summer of Treason, and It Shall Be. These songs and later The Decision and the epic Dawn of the Day display the significant talent of Sacred Dawn: they know their craft and chosen genre, and execute with entertaining delight.
Possibly the only flaw here is when Sacred Dawn succumbs to those 'new school' trends by adding death/hardcore vocals to their songs. On Demonlover and Delirium they're both annoying and unnecessary; they add nothing to the flavor of the song. Yet, they're a bit better, but not by much, on Wrongfully Accused as they are only for accent. Frankly, Sacred Dawn should give them up as it does not dignify theire music.
In the end, Sacred Dawn's A Madness Within is premier American heavy metal. Call it 'old school' if you wish, but between the exceptional musical talent and excellent songs, A Madness Within beats up most modern offerings. Very recommended!

Ready For The Show
Many vocalists pursue solo albums and some leave their bands to do so (for whatever reason). Luigi 'Sange' Sangermano appears to have left (but this is unclear from the promo sheet) Italy's Tarchon Fist, a fine classic heavy metal band to strike out on his own. Excusing the self-promoting band name and awful album art, Sange delivers a decent project with Ready for the Show.
Ready for the Show offers a fine mix of melodic heavy and power metal. Passing over the unnecessary intro, the first three numbers offer some exciting music. Hate Sower, The Demon Inside, and Master of Grief are powerful numbers, and songs that show craftsmanship and allow the musicians to excel. Even the 'metal ballad' Goodbye delivers as expected. However, as you proceed through the rest of the album, it becomes a bit uneven but still enjoyable. Photograph is average, nearly a musical blunder. Shock Down the System and Overturned by Nature deliver better heavy metal goods. Thank You has a rocking groove.
Much of Ready for the Show is made palatable by Sange's backup which, curiously, includes members from Tarchon Fist. Listening to Thank You, Hate Sower, or Goodbye, I'm ready to give more kudos to Sange's supporting cast than to Sange himself. But isn't it true that a vocalist is only as good as the songs and players that support him? Sange's solo effort Sange Main Machine is an excellent start. Ready for the Show offers good songs in a creative melodic heavy metal package. Sange's Ready for the Show is worth your attention

Ralf Scheepers has built himself quite a reputation for being one of the finest German Heavy Metal singers. With a career spanning three decades (he debuted with Tyran’ Pace’s “Eye to Eye” album in 1983), Scheepers sung on true Power Metal manifesto releases such as Gamma Ray’s first three albums, before starting Primal Fear in 1997, with Mat Sinner.
His voice is high-pitched and tenor-esque and his abilities were often compared to some of the finest Hard Rock and Heavy Metal singers ever (from Rob Halford to Ronnie James Dio and Ian Gillan). Both Helloween and Judas Priest considered him as their possible next lead singer.
Over the years Ralf wrote and collected a few tracks that did not fit exactly in the Primal Fear concept. As often happens, he had just been waiting for the right chance to present itself and that happened when himself, his buddy Mat Sinner and Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino sat together and discussed plans for the future in… 2007!
Over three years later and the results are finally here and in Scheepers’ words “I’m really proud of the result!”
Ralf Scheepers’ artistic intention was to please the existing Primal Fear fan base, but he also wanted to add some surprises and include as much variation as he could in the recording.
So he went ahead and covered one of his own favourite - but untypical Judas Priest songs “Before the Dawn” and for the first time, Ralf played all instruments on a song, except the fantastic guitar solos added by Victor Smolski (Rage). “Compassion” is another special track with a very positive vibe, recorded only with acoustic instruments. Two of the songs were composed with former Primal Fear guitarist Stefan Leibing, while Gamma Ray’s Kai Hansen added guitar on “The Pain Of The Accused”. Halford’s Metal Mike played lead-guitar on the album opener “Locked In The Dungeon”. One more highlight is the vocal duet with Tim “Ripper” Owens on “Remission Of Sin”.
Additional guest appearances include Sander Gommans (ex After Forever), Snowy Shaw (King Diamond, Therion) and Scheepers Primal Fear band mates Magnus, Alex, Achim & Mat!

When SOUL DOCTOR released their debut in 2001 many fans were surprised by the band's musical direction. Since Tommy Heart was the lead singer in FAIR WARNING and Joerg Deisinger played bass for BONFIRE, many people expected an album in the vein of �Go!� and �Point Blank�. Nowadays people got used to the fact that SOUL DOCTOR play classic Hard Rock in the vein of early FOREIGNER, LED ZEPPELIN and GOTTHARD. The band's first two albums, �Soul Doctor� and �Systems Go Wild�, were already out of print, but now get re-released as a low-priced 2-CD-set including the Japan bonus tracks �Cheap Talk� and �Wild And On The Run�. The reissue is limited to 500 copies and exclusively available via mailorder. So if you don't own the two albums yet, then hurry and finally order them! Well, but back to the music: The songs don't feature any bombastic arrangements or shallow keyboards, they just rock straight forward and live on the riff-oriented guitar-playing by Chris Lyne. The SOUL DOCTOR sound gets rounded off by the unique and emotional vocals by Tommy Heart. They are the perfect counterpart to sleazy riffs on songs like �Soul Doctor�, �Shake 'Em On Down�, �What Do U Want�, �Livin' The Life� (a song penned by AUTOGRAPH's Steve Plunkett that later go re-recorded by STEEL DRAGON for the �Rockstar� soundtrack), �Get It On� (with a classic THE CULT guitar sound), �All Systems Go!� (the song can not deny its similarites with LED ZEPPELIN's �Immigrant Song�). It goes without saying that SOUL DOCTOR also have some beautiful ballads in the holster. My personal favourite is �See You In Heaven� from �Systems Go Wild� which I think is the better album of the two. It's a just a little more uncompromsing and rougher than the debut, but overall both albums are some of the best Hard Rock releases coming from Germany in the last 20 years. So at the end of the day, both thumbs up for this re-release!

STREET LEGAL name came to prominence for the first time during the year 2000 when the band�s debut �Thunderdome� was released with strong critical acclaim.
The band did already build a a solid reputation with some great live shows in their home country Norway, particularly their first show in May 99 as support of W.A.S.P. gathered such comments as: - Iron Maiden threatened Kiss in 1980, Clawfinger showed muscle before Anthrax in 1990, Skunk Anansie blew away Therapy? in 1995. In 1999 Street Legal outplayed W.A.S.P.� - Stig Myhre (Nettpuls). "Street Legal should be the next Norwegian act to make a remarkable impact on an international level� - Jan Dahle (Scream). After the release of �Thuderdome�, STREET LEGAL performed some killer shows at the Sweden Rock Festival and at the Gods Festival in the UK .
Soundwise, these Norwegian rockers have been often compared to THIN LIZZY, WHITESNAKE and BLUE MURDER. �Classic rock with a strong blues foundation, still very harmony driven�, comments bass player and singer Bjorn Boge, when asked to describe the sound of the band to the uninitiated. �A lot of influences from the past: Westcoast Music, Metal, Hard Rock from the late 70�s. Always with focus on the song. Lyrics are also important. Chuck Frazier, my buddy in the lyric department is the major force behind this�.

If you talk about Heavy Metal in Finland – you are talking about TAROT!
The legendary Heavy Metal act was founded in the early eighties by the Hietala brothers, Marco and Zachary, inspired by the NWoBHM and their love for bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and others.
Soon they started to create their own songs and named their band PURGATORY, which was going through various line-up changes. Still it was their hobby, a future with intensive touring and a record deal was rather a distant dream than a concrete goal. Besides playing music, Zachary started his studies of naval mechanics, while Marco was a high school student. Along with other activities, the brothers carried on developing the band and their progress was intense.
At that time there were only a few Heavy Rock bands in Finnland and the ones existing represented Hard Rock rather than Heavy Rock. Purgatory wanted to refer to angrier and heavier bands. While Marco went to Helsinki doing bass and music theory studies in the capital, he spread the band’s name in the scene and the bands popularity started to grow.
A deal was offfered and both band and label decided to change the name into TAROT. Their first 7inch single called „Wings of Darkness“ was released in 1986. The appearance of this excellence newcomer was a surprise for the growing scene in Finnland. The single represented something fresh and new and contained novel elements like nordic freshness, desolate gallantry and skillful musicianship. Their attitude won the sympathics of the audience. Their follow up debut „Spell Of Iron“ was highly appriciated. The transparency of the opening track „Midvinter Nights“ fulfills all the promisesthed previously released single had provoked and the harsh skullness of „Love’s Not Made For My Kind“ knocks out with ist severity.
Die hard fans of TAROT still call this debut album their best one so far. It became a classsic – which the band has now – after 25 years – re-recorded, even followed by a remake of their video clip for „Wings Of Darkness“.
Till now TAROT have released eight studio albums, two live records and one best of album. In 2006 all their former records were also re-released with bonus tracks, but this new recorded version of their legendary debut tops it all. A classic that has deserved it!

Nevertheless, this is a high quality Melodic Hardrock release with as highlights the songs “Grow”, “I’m Back” and “Do You Understand”. Here and there the songs sound a bit simple/average, but in general a nice CD, like the last VENGEANCE, though a bit less interesting and the band should have left out closing track “Bluesman” which is a remake of the POISON track “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn”.

Tempestt Bring 'Em On - Tempestt from Sao Paolo/ Brazil started in the late 90's with playing covers of bands like Journey, Kansas, Europe, Queen, Bon Jovi and Dream Theater. What specially caught the audience's attention was the form by which music was performed, and soon the cover band got a legion of admirers. After a short time, Tempestt played with Billy Sheehan and was chosen as the support band to the vocalist Jeff Scott Soto tour in Brazil. Dave Henzerling (King Kobra, Keel, Big Cock, Lizzy Borden) met vocalist Scott Hammons in late 2008 while they were both playing shows with the band Icon. In early 2009, they got together to work on new material for an as-yet-unnamed project and the chemistry just clicked. Dave had already laid down basic tracks with Los Angeles drummer Ryan Hoyle (Collective Soul) and together with Scott on lead vocals, they completed a collection of eight songs by the end of the hot Arizona summer.
Produced by Dave Henzerling, Tunnel™ also enlisted world-renown background singer Marc LaFrance (Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams) as well as "Guitar Hero" Steve Ouimette (Guitar Hero III, Rock Revolution) for help with one of the song's orchestral arrangements. The CD was mixed by Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Saving Abel) at Pearl Sound Studios in Canton, MI and mastered by Justin Shturtz at Sterling Sound in New York.

Three decades have passed since a restless, wild-eyed teenager from northwest England first packed his bags for London to pursue his passion for music, and though he has enjoyed formidably staying power, chart-topping records and sold-out concerts around the world, John Waite’s hunger has never diminished – it has simply become something much more complex.
The turn of the page to 2011 finds the ever-evolving British singer/songwriter preparing the release of “Rough and Tumble”, John Waite’s anticipated new studio album recorded partly in Nashville and recently wrapped up in Los Angeles with the members of his touring band.
Waite says. “As much as the live album released last may was a defining moment and as much as I enjoyed playing those songs, I consider this album as a new beginning.” Waite is referring specifically to the sweet pocket of creativity he enjoyed with Matchbox 20 lead guitarist/songwriter Kyle Cook. The two wrote plenty of fresh new music for “Rough & Tumble”.
“It’s pretty much extraordinary,” Waite says of the material he created with Cook, who he met through a mutual friend. “It’s not like what people would expect from me. It’s a step to the left. There’s a rock imprint on the music and a melodic presence, but it’s just shifted gears. It has an identity and a philosophy of its own, which is really fresh for me.”
The collaboration has proved to be nothing short of phenomenal, and songs like “Evil” (a thumping rocker-meets-dance-club tour de force), “Better Off Gone” (a hook-laced better-off-on-the-open-road anthem), “Love’s Goin’ Out of Style” and the magic ballad “If You Ever Get Lonely”. “I’m not saying it’s high art, but genuinely speaking, it’s fantastic for me,” Waite says, reflecting on his new music. “I certainly am interested in spending the rest of my life doing something creative rather than just living in the past”. This eclectic collection of brand new music, Waite’s first studio album since 2007’s “Downtown…Journey of Heart”, is set for a January 2011 release.

The United Kingdom has never been short on hard rock talent. The new wave of hard rock bands coming out of Europe, and in the case of Wired Desire, from Scotland, gives me high hopes for the future of rock. One band that is making a lot of noise as of late is the five piece group, Wired Desire. This amazing quintet has the hard edge of AC/DC, the swagger of Guns �N Roses, and a great sound that should help pave their path to success.
The band has youth on their side (the average age of WIred Desire�s five members are 21) and are showing a ton of promise with their new EP, Barely Illegal.
Daly has a great rock voice. He has that rough edge style that I love to hear. The guitar tandem of Jam and Eddy are already making names for themselves in their young career.
The record labels (what is left of them) ought to be lining up to sign these guys, and get it done quickly.
