130R   ST
130R is the brainchild of UK based guitarist & singer Edward Box (VENDETTA). The band''''s genre clearly is AOR/ Melodic Rock but offers influences from several different bands including the likes of TYKETTO, JIMI JAMISON''''s solo work, ROXUS, JADED HEART (early years) and much more! Perfectly produced, songs such as the uptempo "One More Day", the groovy riff rocker "Face In The Crowd" and the mid-tempo, melodic "If You Could See Me Now" will please you. Amazing guitar work and voice by Mr. Box as well. If you like any of the aforementioned artists, check 130R out!

1994   S/T
Fronted by the voluptuous Karen Lawrence, 1994 were one of the greatest North American hard rock bands that time and tide has indeed forgotten. Signed, in a blaze of publicity, to the mighty A&M label, produced by seventies studio wizard Jack ‘Aerosmith’ Douglas and hailed as the next big thing, the band never quite made the commercial impact all had hoped for. Critically, however, their music was bestowed with fervent praise attracting rave reviews both at home and abroad.Released in 1978, Geoff Barton, then writing for Sounds magazine, and now, of course, Editor of Classic Rock, made no secret of his love for 1994’s self titled debut album, going so far as to acclaim it as one of the years best releases; a veritable cracker box of explosive guitar based rock topped off with a stellar performance from one of the best (female) vocalists of the era – a deadly yet cool combination of Heart and Aerosmith. Fully remastered, 4,000 word essay by Stephen Allen, previously unpublished photos and 4 bonus tracks recorded live in 1978. Look out too, for a rare special guest appearance by guitarist Brad Whitford - one of only a small handful of extraneous appearances outside the Aerosmith mother ship. Track listing: ‘Once Again’, ‘Shoot To Kill’, ‘Sing To me’, ‘Heleana’, ‘Bring It home’, ‘Radio Zone’, ‘Hit The Hardway’, ‘Read Up’, ‘Anastasia’. Bonus tracks: (live) ‘Shoot To Kill’, ‘Find It In The City’, ‘Hit The Hardway’, ‘Bring It Home’.

Go to the Rathole for a detailed description! Radio Destroyer
I've had this disc for a couple weeks now and liked it so much after the very first listen that I decided to step away from it... just in case 21st Century Goliath caught me in an unusually good mood. After several more listens I can confirm that my first impression was bang on -- this debut album is a shit-kicking good time from beginning to end. Trying to find comparisons for these North Carolina sleaze merchants is proving tough. I hear some James Hetfield in the vocal delivery of Tony Leone, but this band is nothing like Metallica -- instead they are a mish-mash of Motorhead's adrenaline driven punk, Circus Of Power's biker rock and Raging Slab's irreverent boogie taken to furious extremes. In other words Radio Destroyer is the type of album that grabs you by the throat and drives its message home by delivering uppercuts and right crosses to your chin through its nine song duration. The word relentless pretty much describes this entire release, but especially during the first single "Life's A Bitch". For four and a half minutes this track rumbles along with a heavy backend, in-your-face guitars and a chorus of 'life's a bitch, but the perks are good'. After barreling through two more hard-hitting classics, "Love Me Again" and "Hollowpoint", 21st Century Goliath take things to yet another level during the title track -- during this song the band explore slight tempo changes before exploding during what is the album's most memorable chorus. Rounding out this merciless collection of tunes is the hillbilly-punk meets hard rock of "Let's See (How Far This Goes)" and "Lipstick", which has show-closer written all over it. Sometimes bands set themselves up for failure by choosing a moniker that they could never live up to. However in this case the 21st Century Goliath's are every bit as 'gigantic' as their name suggests, not to mention the could actually destroy radio if any of them had the guts to play music this good. How about giving a young independent band a helping hand and picking up this disc -- trust me, you won't regret it. SR Track List: 01. Ballad Of Charlie Guns 02. Life's A Bitch 03. Love Me Again 04. Hollowpoint 05. Radio Destroyer 06. If You're Ready 07. Graveyard Rendezvous 08. Let's See (How Far This Goes) 09. Lipstick

220 VOLT Go to the Rathole for a detailed description! Eye To Eye
220 Volt released their masterpiece with "Eye To Eye" in 1988. Producer Max Norman does such artistic justice to this Swedish powerhouse. The songs on this fourth album are incredibly good on the whole record. Jocke Lundholm is phenomenal with his unique voice; powerful and dynamic with an impressive range that leads the band from one great song to the other. His delivery on the all-time classic ballad "Love Is All You Need" is simply sublime. From the album opener "The Harder They Come" to the final "On The Other Sides" it''''''''s a Swedish rock party were the guitar solos from the superb playing Mats Karlsson and Peter Olander gives the songs their well-deserved finishing touch. It just does not get better than this! 1 The Harder They Come 2 I''''''''m on Fire 3 Beat of a Heart 4 Eye to Eye 5 Love Is All You Need 6 Live It Up 7 Dog Eat Dog 8 Dangerous 9 Still in Love 10 Money Talks 11 On the Other Sides

Limited 180gm blue, white, and black marbled vinyl LP pressing. It may be called a complete mystery why Mind Over Muscle, the successor to Powergames, received so little attention in 1985. This can certainly be called one of the top albums of 220 Volt, one of the better pure Swedish metal albums of the decade! Lead singer Joakim Lundholm is doing a great job on this alum, and he has shed all of the roughshod, inexperience of youth to develop into a force to rival with the best. Everything about this record is bigger, longer, and harder and it maintains an immense level of quality across the album. With riffs that kick ass almost the whole way through the album Mind Over Muscle, 220 Volt''''s third album is a truly a Euro-metal masterpiece. 1 The Tower 2 In the End 3 Electric Messengers 4 Power Games 5 Blessed By the Night 6 Secret Dance (Xymania) 7 It''''s Nice to Be a King 8 Mind Over Muscle 9 Whiter Than White 10 Touch of Fire 11 Halloween 12 Pavement Song

Go to the Rathole for a detailed description! Walking In Starlight
Apart from EUROPE and TREAT the guys from 220 VOLT were one of the strongest Melodic Rock bands coming from Sweden in the late 1980s. Their 1988 album “Eye To Eye” was produced by Max Norman and included many first-class songs which still enjoy an excellent reputation. Unfortunately the band got in trouble and so happened that you had to wait until today to finally get a worthy successor. With the excellent new singer Anders Engberg (ex-LIONS SHARE/ex-THERION) and 13 new songs in the bag the band tries successfully to polish the somewhat battered reputation. Musically the new record continues where the band left off back then and moves skillfully between Hard Rock and Melodic Rock. The songs are very guitar-driven, but at the same time they feature many strong melodies. The best results are "Walking in Starlight", "System Overload" (enormously powerful), "Alive", "Through The Wastelands" and the closing ballad "Guiding Light". Even though the album doesn’t include any really weak song, it perhaps counts one or two tracks too many. Anyhow, "Walking In Starlight" is a very good album that simply deserves to be heard! 3HM Go to the Rathole for a detailed description! 3 Headed Monster
The album has all the kinds of metal, from power melodic riffs with dual guitar shreds to slowest chord changes, then to dark classical guitar sounds, then back to progressive rhythm rests and finally to PANTERA-like outbreaks. The solid rhythm section of Paul Muise on bass and AK45 (what kind of name is that?) on drums gives the freedom to the 6-string masters Chris Kessaris (is this a Greek last name?) and Chris Cecchini to create melodic riffs, never ending shreds and dual harmonic solos with tapping or extreme picking. In and between the songs you can hear quotes from old movies, it is a way for 3HM to transport the listener to the catastrophic scene of Gidorah and the panic of humans at the sight of three flesh eating heads. The song "The Beats Of Odo Island" is a tribute to Gonzilla the real beast of Odo Island. If metal of any kind is your thing you should try the instrumental way of 3HM.

Sorry, I Don''t Even Care Here we have the 2nd album from 415 titled "Boys Night Out". This album was produced by Gregg Rolie from Santana and Journey. Again, this band features the amazing lead vocals from Eric Martin (pre-Mr. Big) and guitars from John Nymann (pre-Y&T). Keyboardist Dave Jacobsen would later go onto tour with UFO. The "Boys Night Out" album was recorded in August of 1981 at Fantasy Studios (Same studio Journey recorded their album "Escape"). This was to be the band''s sophomore album after "Area Code 415". The album "Boys Night Out" starts out with the title track where the ambiance has you in a bar setting ready to hear a band belt out a great tune, and that is exactly what you get. Track 2 (Just Too Late) is a super catchy song that you can''t help but listen to it over and over... Yes, it''s that good. Track 3 (Two For The Road), the band gives you a bluesy number that shows how divers this band can be as they do the bluesy tracks as good or better than anyone. Track 4 is the original version of the song "Love Me" that was a hit for the band on their major label debut album "Sucker For A Pretty Face". John and Eric have both expressed how much they love this original version of the song and how this version really showcases the emotion this song really has. Track 5 (Paris) just might be the catchiest song Eric Martin has ever written. Track 6 (Got Another Girl) is an upbeat song with a great beat and some catchy lyrics and perfect amount of keys. Track 7 (City Screamed) comes in with some catchy keys and a nice little riff. The chorus starts out with some great backing vocals and then Eric sings a lead over the top that takes the song to a new level. Track 8 (Extra Extra) has some great lyrics with a super catchy chorus. This tune is one of the band''s all-time favorites. The closing track (9) "All In The Wind" starts out slowly and smooth but picks up in spots. This is a song that is quite beautiful in both music and lyrics. Great way to end the album.

707 originally started off performing in the LA clubs in the late 1970's and it wasn't long before they eventually got their break landing a deal with Casablanca Records. Those pomp rock fans amongst us will find that 707's debut delivers all the staple ingredients required to satisfy their appetite for the overblown - intricate musicianship, tempo changes, sweeping orchestral arrangements, plenty of melodramatic choruses and an abundance of keyboard/guitar interplay. The big drum sound prevalent throughout, reinforces the majestic nature of this musical experience. Imagine a mix of early Survivor, Le Roux, Airborne and Grand Prix and you'll get the picture. Keyboardist Duke McFadden had been a pervasive influence on the 707 debut, contributing to the majority of the songs. When the 2nd album was recorded the band had streamlined down to a three-piece and straight ahead AOR ensued as a result. For the 2nd album 707 had decided that it should be a little less pomp and a lot more guitar. There's a definite Journey influence to the opening strains of upbeat rocker 'Tonite's Your Night', 'Millionaire' on the other hand is heavy hitting, built around a stuttering guitar riff and underpinned by Jim McClarty's solid drumbeat. Produced by Jai Winding (Le Roux) this is a hugely enjoyable album chock full of memorable AOR tunes. Rock Candy re-issue, digitally remastered.

You may be asking yourself if there is anything original about '77 -- and the honest answer would be, no. If you do not hung up on originality -- if the music moves you, makes your head bob and your foot stomp, you must check out “High Decibels” pronto. The members of the band have an average age of 20 and all of them live up in the north of Sweden except for the singer Marcus Nygren that lives 2000 kilometers south of the bands "hometown" Kiruna. Marcus was found on the internet by the other members and after discovering that the musical similarities were so many and the personal chemistry was so good between all five of them that it would be perfect to start a hard-working band together despite the distance, they formed 8-Point Rose. Their music can be described as melodic, heavy and catchy metal with strong melodies, and they are inspired by a lot of other Scandinavian bands like In Flames, Nocturnal Rites, Tad Morose, The Rasmus, Evergrey, The Haunted, Soil work and Morgana Lefay. The music has both a really heavy and almost "extreme metal" base fronted by the furious screams of guitarist Alexander Timander and a softer surface with strong melodies and beautiful vocal arrangements fronted by talented singer Marcus Nygren. The first months, under the name of 8-Point Rose, they released a tribute-song to the pop-icon Michael Jackson that recently had passed away. The song was released for free download at the bands website and got a lot of attention at different memorial-pages for Michael. The success of the song also gave them the opportunity to play at two metal-festivals in the north of Sweden with bands like Lamb of God, Behemoth and Hypocrisy during the first months of the bands career! The debut-album "Primigenia" is recorded in three different cities in Sweden: Umeå, Kiruna and Malmö. It is produced and mixed by Ronnie Björnström at Enhanced Audio Productions and features guest-artists from some great Swedish bands which have influenced 8-Point Rose alot: Bloodbound, Avatar, Andromeda, Zonaria and Morgana Lefay. The lyrics of the album is about everything from deep emotions to the game World of Warcraft and the importance of parties and having a ball of course isnt missed either. Some of the tracks were actually originally written already in the mind of a 15-year old Johannes Timander during the years in the former band Evermoore. Most of the tracks from the album is featured in American bodybuilding-star David Henry's DVD "Beyond Motivated". www.Escape-Music.com

Don't you miss the days of when Hard Rock bands sounded like a real band? No Auto-Tune, no outside songwriters, no B.S. just the sound of a band rocking out in a live setting and letting the chips fall where they may. The newly launched 9 Chambers certainly remember those aforementioned glory days and prove it to the max on their self-titled debut. Beginning as a collaboration between Hard Rock veterans Greg Hampton (who has worked with the likes of Alice Cooper, Bootsy Collins, Lita Ford, and on recently unearthed Tommy Bolin recordings) and former Monster Magnet guitar guru Ed Mundell, along with Gov't Mule virtuoso bassist Jorgen Carlsson and Black Sabbath/Dio/Heaven & Hell drummer Vinny Appice, the 9 Chambers Rock & Roll pedigree is undoubtedly beyond impressive. And 9 Chambers (the album) does not disappoint by any means, sounding pretty much smack dab in the middle of all of their combined past projects. This is heavy, organic stuff kids: 70 s influenced Hard Rock, stoner/groove elements, tight playing, lots of guitar weaving and no studio trickery, all with their front foot firmly planted in 2011. 9 Chambers (the band) definitely have something on the go here that has been sadly missing from the Rock & Roll cannon for some time. Call it chops, call is songwriting, call it pure and uncompromised Hard Rock. Call it 9 Chambers 1. Life Moves On 2. Majick Number 3. One Thing Missing 4. Know Your Enemy 5. Whats It Gonna Get U 6. All But Done 7. Bury Yourself 8. Can t Turn Your Back 9. Other Side Of Time 10. Indeed The Sun 11. Use U Up 12. Cut-N-Runn 13. No Escape 14. Darker Side Of Sunshine

91 SUITE   Back In The Game
The Spanish AOR heroes are finally "Back In The Game". This comeback album was scheduled for release two years ago, but due to the pandemic situation it took much longer as expected. If you never heard 91 Suite, you’ll be surprised by the songwriting quality, and their stupendous musicianship / musicality. Take equal parts of FM, Lionville, Bon Jovi, add a dash of Mr. Big and Hardline, and you have a hint of 91 Suite’s sound – but they own much more. This is classy, very classic AOR / Melodic Rock in sound & production, songs with sweet choruses and rich harmony vocals all over the place. “Back In The Game” packs some of the best Melodic Rock / AOR tunes you’ll hear this year, BELIEVE ME !
