F.E.A.S.T. is the brain child of Italian born singer and guitarist Fabri Kiareli. The debut album "Rise" of Fabri Kiareli's F.E.A.S.T. showcases the musical influences of its main man, ranging from straight ahead Heavy Rock anthems ("Fire And Dynamite", "Feed The Hunger", "(Ain't Done) 'Til It's Over") to Classic Rock power ballads ("Broken Dreams", "Cold Hearted") and from fast paced Metal tracks "Win Or Lose"), to the epic masterpiece "The Meaning Of Life" and the Melodic Rock hymn "Follow The Way", a duet with Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge Of Forever, Eden's Curse, Shining Line, Axe, Glenn Hughes, Bernie Marsden). F5, if you haven’t heard yet, is the Phoenix-based band featuring former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, ex-Sick Speed vocalist Dale Steele, guitarists Steve Conley and John Davis, and ex-Megadeth drummer Jimmy DeGrasso. The group's forthcoming sophomore album, The Reckoning, is due on August 19 through OarFin Distribution and let me tell you first hand, it’s a metal record. The album is the follow-up to 2005's A Drug for All Seasons and was produced by Ryan Greene at his Crush Recording facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. Speaking of the production, the drums on this record pound you in the face and blasts with perfect quality. F5 called in Ellefson's longtime rhythm section cohort Jimmy DeGrasso to play drums on the new album following the recent departure of original F5 drummer Dave Small.
The album is pure out metal mania with nasty chugging guitars and brutal sounding drums. This is a band for any fan of Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeth or Eighteen Visions. The vocals are the most like Avenged as they are raspy in front of the onslaught of rock. I really didn’t think much of the band until I heard this record and as I’m not the biggest fan of metal this was an eye opener for me. I knew the sound from Megadeth and things, as I am not the biggest fan of the vocals. This band will make it with the popularity of Avenged Sevenfold. As soon as people catch on to the music I can see this band being one of the top contenders in this genre. You will get double-bass rocking your ear drums, guitars blazing and powerful vocals. If you are a fan of any of the aforementioned artists I highly recommend this artist for your listening pleasure. Great work, go check it out in august or catch a song on their myspace.

When it comes to Melodic Rock from Germany, then FAIR WARNING is definitely one of the top 5 bands to name. The band around singer Tommy Heart (SOUL DOCTOR) didn't ever deliver a weak or disappointing album in their almost 20 years lasting career. And the band's latest effort, „Aura“, marks no exception. Compared with previous albums, like „Rainmaker“ or „4“, the song material hasn't turned out that pompous. Even Helge Engelke's (DREAMTIDE) Sky Guitar playing sounds reduced to its bare essentials. Due to these little adjustments in their style the straight and powerful rockers like „Fighting For Your Love“, „As Snow White Found Out“ and the outstanding „Here Comes The Heartache“ bring back memories of the band's self-titled debut album. Another highlight is „Hey Girl“. In the opening the song gets carried by some acoustic guitars and Tommy Heart's emotional vocals, but then turns slowly into a bombastic power ballad. This is definitely one of the best songs FAIR WARNING have ever recorded! A special mention must also be given to the ballad „Falling“ of which vocal melody and melancholy remind me a bit of DURAN DURAN's „Ordinary World“, as well as the mid-tempo rocker „Station To Station“ that plays with some unobtrusive Funk elements. The album's most pompous song is the slow paced rocker „Someday“ which features some classic background arrangements and a very Brian May-ish guitar solo. Since „Aura“ is a FAIR WARNING album it goes without saying that the playing, singing and production are beyond any reproach. In my opinion this is one band's best and most consitent works to date. A must-buy for all Melodic Rock lovers!

Fair Ground is the band feat. Harem Scarem guitarist Pete Lesperance and ex-Our Lady Peace guitarist Mike Turner, helping out on drums is Creighton Doane (Harem Scarem) and Pete has taken care of the lead vocal duties. This is pretty much the same album as Pete's solo album "Down In It" from 2004, they have a rougher sound on the Fair Ground album compared to the lighter powerpop sound of the 2004 version. You could say it's one step closer to the Harem Scarem rock but not that hard, I'm glad Pete and Mike added more guitars and turned it up in the mix because this album sounds better than Pete's solo effort that also was a solid piece of work in my opinion. "What are you waiting for?" is the only new track on the album and it's a catchy midtempo tune that works real. Highly recommended for Harem Scarem fans!

Faith Circus, from the west coast of Norway, were a band born from the ashes of two rival bands. Comprised of, Marc Farrano (vocals), Marius Mørch (guitars), Lasse Koester (bass) and Baard Nordvik (drums). Their style could be described as a hybrid of acts such as Kiss, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Journey, etc... Empire Of The Damned
Empire Of The Damned is the second full-length album from UK hard rock band Falling Red. With UK tours and festival performances scheduled, the band has set their sights high with this rumbling release.
"Time To Rise" opens with a haunting spoken media news frenzy and a drawn out guitar solo rippling over the rhythm section. I''''m not usually a fan of ''''introduction'''' tracks, but at a minute and a half this one sets the tone perfectly. "The Devil You Know" gives guitarist Jayde Starr center stage, but I especially like the paired down production that gives each layer its appropriate limelight. However the chorus is a bit generic for a hard rock band and the riff quickly becomes repetitive. "We Escaped A Cult" is creepily atmospheric before bursting out with Starr''''s signature rough guitar sound. The song includes a great bouncy bass rhythm matched by anthemic vocals in the chorus, and the silence between the chorus and bridge is also particularly effective, illustrating Falling Red''''s attention to detail in their song-writing.
"Break Me" is a relentless, hell-bent track with Dave Sanders''''s wild drumming of particular note -- although after the solo the song again lacks in creativity. "Outcast" has a more original riff pattern, especially with the echoes on the vocals, though the backing vocals could do with more weight and clarity -- they often tend to sound clouded and sliding for the notes. "Disposable" sets Sanders loose on the drums (just check him out live) but unfortunately the rest of the track lacks the originality to keep you engaged and enamored. "Empire Of The Damned" sits uneasily in the middle of the album with its slow sung introductory vocals, but Rozey twists his voice beautifully to fit the tone of the song and overall it''''s a worthy title track, if a little messy in places.
"We Are Reckless" kicks off fast from its slower predecessor, with Rozey''''s vocals quickly taking the lead, though it''''s a fairly uneventful and mediocre effort. "We Are Sanctuary" makes you think a ballad might be on the way but these boys know better than to let you relax and keep you guessing with a catchy tune with great backing vocals -- my favorite on the album. The closing two tracks, "Lonely Way To Die", which lacks clear cut song-writing, and "Change For No One", which is slightly too long and repetitive (especially in the introduction), round the album off distinctly.
Empire Of The Damned is darker and rougher than the ''''stadium rock'''' Falling Red list in their biography, but by no means in a bad way. Overall it is a genuinely good and creative album, although it could do with some polishing in terms of backing vocals, vocal tuning and catchier hooks. There are a couple of especially good tracks on Empire Of The Damned, with the rest worth a listen if you like hard rock.

Formed by Peter Knorn in 1973, FARGO proved popular on the German touring circuit, well known for Knorn's habit of onstage somersaults - bass and all - and supported the likes of AC/ DC and APRIL WINE in their time. At one stage FARGO included one Matthias Jabs in the line-up, but the guitarist left to join the SCORPIONS in 1978 and was superseded by Hanno Grossman. The band's first album, 'Wishing Well', was issued through the Crystal label in 1979 and produced by Klaus Hess and Frank Bornemann (ELOY), the latter proclaiming in the cover notes that "FARGO, Das ist Rock 1979"!. Second outing 'No Limit' found the group signed to EMI's Harvest label, Ede Schicke playing drums on two tracks in place of an ailing Franky Tolle. Bornemann co-produced the record with the band. Tolle was out by 1981 and in came successor Rudi Käding, a bit of a Ringo Starr lookalike. However, Franky Tolle returned to the fold in time to record 'F', co-produced by Knorn, Ladwig and Jan Nemec, which also featured new guitarist Tommy Newton replacing Hanno Grossman. The band actually made it over to Britain to play a solitary show at the infamous Marquee Club in London, albeit a lack of promotion ensured a mere twenty or so people passed through the door. In the beginning of 2005, after completion of the second Section A album and his third all instrumental release, Danish guitarist Torben Enevoldsen, began writing some new material. The style came to be very melodic hard rock with a hard hitting edge – the idea of FATAL FORCE was born.
FATAL FORCE’s album, which was released in the Spring of 2006 in Europe and Japan, featured Mats Levén (Ex-At Vance, Ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) on vocals and Daniel Flores (XsavioR, Mind’s Eye) on drums.
Enevoldsen kept busy with various projects and also joined Danish Rock legends Fate, but still found the time to work on new Fatal Force songs. All the new tracks were completed by the end of 2009, but schedules never aligned for the initial line-up, so Enevoldsen decided to make some changes.
Michael Vescera (Ex-Loudness, Ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) joined the band in early 2010. He wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals in his own studio in Nashville. New drummer Dennis Hansen, recorded the drums at Enevoldsen's studio and the production was completed at the end of the year 2011.
Entitled “Unholy Rites”, the second release from FATAL FORCE will be release on July 20th 2012

FATE was formed in late '84 in Copenhagen, Denmark by Hank Sherman who left Mercyful Fate and got together with Jeff "Lox" Limbo (a.k.a. Jens Meiner), Bob Lance (a.k.a. Bjarne Holm) and Pete Steiner (a.k.a. Peter Steincke). During the 80’s, the band was one of the leading forces of the Scandi Rock genre and released classic albums such as “Fate” (1985), “A Matter Of Attitude” (1986), “Cruisin’ For A Brusin’” (1988) and “Scrath N’ Sniff” (1990) and went permanently on the road – both as headliner and as support to Pretty Maids and Yngwie Malmsteen among others. Over the years, FATE went through a couple of line-up changes and remained to be active until 1993.
The second chapter was opened when the Danish five-piece started to play live again in 2005. The release of the album “V” (2006), some more touring and yet more line-up changes followed. “Ghost From The Past” now is their sixth studio album in total and the first to feature singer Dagfinn Joensen on vocals, Danish guitar hero Torben Enevoldsen on the six string, Peter Steincke on bass, Jens Berglid on drums and Mikkel Henderson on keyboards.
The CD was produced by Fate and Thomas Pedersen at various studios in Denmark and mastered by Torben Lysholm. With this album “Ghosts From The Past”, FATE is truly back!

Very much a project based album this effort from Fierce Heart. Quite a strong rockin' album featuring one of the best rock guitarists around in Rex Carroll before he joyned Christian hard rockers WHITECROSS. Music wise it's a straight melodic heavy rock album, with emphasis on strident guitar and a heavy rhythm section. Larry Elkin's vocals are a raucous cross between Larry Baud and Jeff Scott Soto. There are some power rockers on here, like 'Lions Share', 'Out For Blood' and 'Search And Destroy', which sounds very much like AC/DC doing melodic metal. Others which stand out include 'Never Gonna Cry' which could be an Eyes track for all we know, and the title track 'Fierce Heart'. Digitally remastered.

After the the successful international release of Fire's second album "Thrill Me" in the fall of 2009, Avenue Of Allies now presents the band's debut album "Ignite" as an expanded CD re-issue. Originally only released on the band's home island of Malta, the new version includes two exclusive bonus tracks, that haven't been available on CD before. The first one is a newly recorded version of the Bryan Adams classic "Run To You" featuring the trademark Fire-sound. Rounding out the album is "Miss You This Christmas", a track which was originally sent out to Radio stations on Malta back in December of 2007. The story of Fire began around 1998 with the band mainly playing Classic Rock covers. As time went by the band started to write its own material and in 2006 they finally released their first album "Ignite". The record also included the two previously released singles, with "Manhunter" being one of the albums highlights with its infectious hookline and catchy chorus. Another song with a massive sing along refrain is "Home And Dry", written by Joe Mizzi, a friend of the band, who also contributed one song to the band's follow-up album "Thrill Me". The album opener "Get Out Of My Way" is another straight ahead Rocker showcasing the characteristic Fire guitar riffs and the Hammond organ in the background. And it's a cut you won't get out of your head once you've heard it. A different side of the band show the Classic Rock power ballad "Goin' Down" and the dark and more complex, but still catchy Rock epic "Conspiracy Theory".

Well, first of all it is classic Hard Rock in the tradition of RAINBOW or DEMON. Talking about the latter, the vocals by Pino Scotto are not dissimilar to those of one Dave Hill of DEMON. The raw touch is especially appealing to me, as I really worship Hill…There are various influences from Neo Hard Rock and Melodic Metal, which causes a partial flooring of the throttle. Yet they are far away from the Italo speed tootling of their competitors. It has become a coherent, good album, with the strength being epic mid-tempo. Quality-wise, everything is on a quite sophisticated level.

Born Of Fire
The band Firecracker started some years ago and is the brainchild of Stefan Lindholm (Vindictiv). Before Vindictiv was formed Stefan contacted keyboard maestro Pontus Larsson and they started to work on some of the songs he had laid down. With bass player Fredrik Folkare (Unleached) and Hasse Worzel on drums the band took shape. Vocalist Tommy Karevik from "Seventh Wonder" took care of the vocal duties and the basis of Firecracker came to a reality.
Musically the band is everything you would expect and more from Sweden. For all of you out there that have heard and fallen in love with Vindictiv (“Vindictiv” ESM164 and “Ground Zero” ESM190) then this predecessor is essential listening. The guitar technique of Stefan Lindholm is as crisp and neat as ever, and he seems to effortlessly produce exciting riffs and melodies with nonchalance. His early years admiring and emulating the works of Malmsteen and Vai shine through but he does have a technique of his own that finds its way through. Keyboards play a vital role in the overall sound and there are plenty of these throughout, and when in harmony, form passages of pleasurable rock music. In addition to Pontus Larsson, keyboards are also supplied by classical player Henrik Mawe and his input of elongated keyboards makes this a stunning release and shows a difference to Vindictiv, a band who Stefan naturally progressed from Firecracker.
The CD “Born of Fire” is an exciting look back to the earlier days of Stefan’s career, which is now developing into legendary status. It is a release that has an appealing raw edge to it, and it would have been a sin to pass by this fantastic recording. Firecracker is a great name for a band, certainly this one as they fit their moniker exactly.

They have a lot of competition but FIREWÖLFE, featuring David Fefolt. Aphrodisiac
There were FM on his first three albums already showcased the obvious talents of the band, that was intensified and extended to a large degree on the fourth record ‘Aphrodisiac’ (1992). The songs are well balanced, the musicianship is great, the production (by FM in cooperation with Andy Reilly) is crystal clear and the lead vocals of Steve Overland are truly outstanding. Therefore I absolutely can not understand that this album did sell better, but the year of release (1992) and the upcoming “grunge” phenomenon will have something to do with this. If you want to catch FM at its very best, I for one should go for this ‘Aphrodisiac’ record, because on this album a large number of great songs like “Breathe Fire”, “Blood & Gasoline”, “Closer To Heaven” or “All Or Nothing”.

Takin’ It To The Streets
After the ‘Tough It Out’ tour lead guitar player Chris Overland decided to call it a day and he got replaced by Andy Barnett, who had already contributed to the writing of the song ‘That Girl’ from the debut album. With Andy in the line-up the sound became a little bit heavier and also some more blues influences became apparent and the first signs of that evolution became obvious on this ‘Takin’ It To The Streets’ album. The A.O.R. influences have decreased a little bit and the rock influences have increased somewhat. Despite of this shift also the third FM album is a very good one, not in the least by the absolute magnificent vocal contribution of Steve Overland, The band had a few small hits with the nice performance of the Marvin Gaye song ‘I Heard It Through The Gravevine’ and the fine ballad ‘Only The Strong Survive’.

"Reality Divine" features nine tracks of progressive tinged power metal that is sure to please fans of both genres. With tracks ranging from the epic "The Conqueror Worm", featuring vocalist Tim Aymar (CONTROL DENIED/PHARAOH) to the emotive "Sowing Dead Seeds", the debut from FOOL'S GAME is one not to be missed. FOOL'S GAME is the brain-child of guitarist/song-writer Matt Crooks (ex-DIVISION). Shortly after a few songs had been written, Crooks recruited guitarist Matt Johnsen (PHARAOH) and John Macaluso (ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN,ex-TNT,ex-ARK) to fill the drum spot. The next step was to find a singer for the project. Danish vocalist Lars F. Larsen (MANTICORA) signed up. The final piece of the puzzle fell into place when Crooks called Nick van Dyk (REDEMPTION) to play keyboards for the project. Once the recording sessions began it was clear that this was no longer a one man project. Each member was given free reign to expand on the songs, and each contributed their own touch to the songs.

Two members of Gotthard; namely singer Steve Lee (RIP) and guitarist Leo Leoni appear on this album, which got released in 1988 and which was nearly impossible to find for a reasonable price for many years.
Leoni more as a guest, Lee sings on all tracks. Musically, this is absolutely nothing like Gotthard. There are other Swiss bands that make for better comparisons. Try Purple Heart, Subway and Ultranite, though to be fair, Forsale have a more organic sound about them, with nods to Lucifers Friend, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep all seeping through at one point or another. A great release before Gotthard jumped in and aworthy addition to your collection not only for Gotthard fans.

One of the definitive pomp classics is this one and only album by the Los Angeles based band Fortune. Very much in the same mould as Giuffria or early House Of Lords, without the over the top guitar heroics. A band that was able to create a textured sound with lots of intricate keyboard work meshing nicely with layered guitar. Not much known about the guys in their formative history, apart from Roger Scott Craig who was previously with UK 70's popsters Liverpool Express. But we certainly know a bit about them during and after this album that's for sure. The big Kevin Beamish production was responsible for bringing out the best in these guys, and it tells on the songs.
Most of the album's arrangements were done by keyboardist Roger Scott Craig, and you hear his influence throughout precedings. A couple of pomp masterpieces get us going in the form of 'Thrill Of It All' and 'Smoke From A Gun'. We undertake a ballad interlude with 'Stacy' which holds us up for a moment before we storm back into the trademark Fortune sound with 'Bad Blood'. Most AOR'sters will know the pomp classic 'Dearborn Station', it's one of the highlights on the album. The pomp assault continues with 'Lonely Hunter', 'Deep In The Heart Of The Night' and 'Stormy Night'. Another highlight is '98 In The Shade', a real moody number which finishes the album off in style.
In typical 'one album wonders' fashion, the band went as fast as they came. No real promotion of the album was forthcoming. I suspect their style was quite hard to promote, because it was so uniquely different. Therefore, they became an automatic entry in the AOR Hall of fame!! Since then, Greene and Craig got back onto the AOR path with the superb Harlan Cage (refer MTM Records), while Bobby Birch has played with the Mark Ashton Band, as well as Warpipes (featuring Elton John's backing band a la Davey Johnstone, Guy Babylon etc) and is still the resident touring bassist with Elton John's band. As for the Fortune brothers, from which the band owes its name, they are still involved in the industry where Richard is now a music producer. During 2004, we finally saw the first re-release of this great album on the bands own Gypsy Rock Records, but here comes the real deal as a digital remastered release (by Chris Lyne) and with the addition of liner notes (courtesy of Dave Reynolds). Do yourself a favour and track this essential CD down before it too disappears off into the sunset.

FROM THE INSIDE is the project that marked the start of the cooperation between legendary Melodic Rock singer Danny Vaughn (Tyketto) and Frontiers Records. Released in September 2004, the first album was welcomed with great acclaim from both fans and press and it finally brought Danny back to the classic Melodic Rock sounds. Together with producer Fabrizio Grossi ( Glenn Hughes, Starbreaker) he was able to put together a finely crafted and top quality contemporary Melodic Rock release.
In the winter of 2007, Danny and Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino once again discussed the production of a true Melodic Rock record in the vein of classic Journey and Tyketto that could follow in the footsteps of the successful debut - From The Inside. Fab Grossi was again recruited and the two of them worked on the songwriting, along with keyboardist Eric Ragno.
The songs were later complemented by additional killer tracks penned especially for the album by Tom and James Martin (of Khymera, Ted Poley and House of Lords fame), with “Love Is No Stranger” by Joey Carbone ( Joseph Williams ) later added to the album, thus completing the tracklisting.
Recording sessions finished in early 2008 with Jimi Bell (House of Lords), handling guitar duties and Peter Lobo on drums. Tommy Hansen (TNT, Jorn, Pretty Maids, Helloween etc) took care of the mix in April.
The result is a truly amazing Melodic Rock album with a harder edge: a flawless collection of extremely well-written songs, with tight musicianship and the vocals... well, this just may be Danny Vaughn's greatest vocal performance to date. “Visions” will absolutely take your breath away. A must have release for 2008!
